1548 - Catherine Parr, sixth and last wife of King Henry VIII dies at Sudley Castle, Gloucestershire. She is the wife who survived ("divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived"), but actually survived Henry by less than two years.
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

1545 - Not a lot this year, but this was slightly cool (and creepy):
"During the Ming Dynasty, a large failure of the harvest in Henan province, China occurs due to excessive rainfall, which drives up the price of wheat and forces many to flee their rural counties; those who stay behind are forced to survive by eating leaves, bark, and human flesh."

1536 - Henry VIII has a busy year. His first wife, Catherine of Aragon dies. He executes his second wife, Anne Boleyn, and marries his third, Jane Seymour. And, oh yes, he closes at least eight abbeys and priories as part of his Dissolution of Monasteries.

1535 - The Münster rebellion ends after Munster falls. It would have ended badly either way - the rebellion's leaders legalized polygamy (one took 16 wives) and instituted adult baptism and community of goods.
