The Autobots couldn't get by without this guy...Ratchet!

[Linked Image] [Linked Image]

Ratchet is the team's medic and a mainstay to the Autobots. Though he's not the most adept fighter, he's always by Prime's side and will never leave an Autobot behind on the field. Ratchet is equipped with numberous hand & arm attachment pieces that serve as medical tools. Though he knows little about aiding humans, he's always there to protect them and quickly escorts them to hospitals for proper treatment whenever Decepticons strike. He's bright, but sometimes misses the obvious...especially when it comes to combat situations.

35. Bombshell

[Linked Image]

Function: Psychological Warfare

Bombshell, like the other Insecticons, just showed up in the swamp one day here on Earth. Though their actual origins remain a mystery, their presence on Earth certainly complicates things for the Autobots. Of all the Decepticons, the Insecticons are the least loyal to Megatron's command. They exist as a force mainly loyal to only themselves, though they will readily work with Megatron and the other Decepticons if it works to their benefit. They are compelled by their insatiable appetite for energy, and they will devour anything in their path if it leads to energy, be it an oil tanker or a field of corn. They are the only Transformers that can easily metabolize non-energon energy sources, and they actually enjoy it very much, thus their rapaciousness.

Bombshell is the most intelligent and capable of the Insceticons, which makes him their leader pretty much by default, though the other Insecticons owe him no fealty or allegiance and would turn on him in a second if it were to benefit them. He is one of the most sadistic of all the Decepticons, evidenced by the tortures he puts his mind-controlled slaves through. Because of this, Megatron does not actively dislike Bombshell as such. In Megatron's eyes, anyone with such a sadistic nature is to be respected, if only slightly. However, since Megatron values loyalty more than sadisticness, Bombshell and the other Insecticons are still fairly low on the Decepticon food chain. It is only their special abilities which keeps them around, added to the fact that Megatron can usually keep the Insecticons controlled through promises of energy.

Bombshell is neither particularly strong, fast, or durable. His personal armament is not bad. His head-mounted mortar canon is his most fearsome offensive weapon. It packs a decent wallop, but still pales next to the blazing weaponry of a Decepticon jet. However, Bombshell's true power lies in his mind-control abilities. He is outfitted with mechanisms called cerebro-shells, which he can launch from a distance. Once they penetrate any Transformer's armor, they can completely override all that Transformer's higher mental functions, completely putting him under Bombshell's complete mental control. He can use his cerebro-shells on a human as well. Only the strongest mind can resist his mental control powers. However, as his biggest strength is his cerebro-shells, they can be used against him if removed from a host being. They can be modified to transmit false data to him, and destroying his shells causes him dehabilitating pain. Bombshell can be quite nasty to his slaves, causing them to perform humiliating and dangerous actions for his amusement.

Excellent entry, Kippers! I really need to get cracking to catch up to you.

I always loved the potential Bombshell had. Of the Insecticons, he had the greatest chance to take-over the team with his cerebro shells. Every time he appeared he was used really effectively in my opinion, from manipulating Autobot hostages to his advantage to turning Megatron's soldiers against him for the one-two betrayal!

#1 Decepticon right here! Forget Megatron, it's all about...Soundwave!

[Linked Image] [Linked Image]

What couldn't Soundwave do? Though devoid of emotion or tone, Soundwave was a force to be reckoned with. As keeper of the Decepticon cassettes, he could summon an army at the press of a button! His impressive gun & shoulder-cannon coupled with his sonic attack make him an offensive genius. But it's his other skills...the ability to jam transmissions as well as interface with any information system (either a computer or the human mind). With this unique trait Soundwave can unlock doors, capture telepathic messages, and collect any information he desires.

Have I mentioned how sexy his monotone voice is, lately?

The most-used Decepticon cassette...Laserbeak!

[Linked Image] [Linked Image]

Outside of his rapid flight and small size that allows him to slip anywhere, Laserbeak can fire laser beams from his eyes and mentally transmit any information needed to Soundwave or Megatron.

The really bizarre thing about that last post was that I dreamed that my mom was furious at me for not doing my housework. Of course, I haven't lived at home for YEARS. Weird.

I didn't get to see the breakdancing Transformers yet... for some reason, I couldn't stream it. frown

Kid Prime update:

Things are great.

As I sit here in my beautiful new house, I can't help but think how blessed I am. How blessed WE are. Lee and I just finished moving in, and we love it here. 2005 is going to be a good year.

Soon... VERY soon... I will have uncorked my last bottle of wine and served my last filet.

Last week, we closed Aida, and, well, for my first show in about 3 years, it was a wonderful experience. Of course, I'm still waiting for my check, but it'll get here. The opera company I'm working with has hired me for the next opera as well, and while I'm still working for peanuts, it really is something I love.

This is going to be a great year for the Legion (TESTAMONIAL: Lee just read LSH #2 and totally loved it. This coming from a guy who has always... considered my Legion hobby as something to be tolerated, rather than cherished.) So I'm pumped about that.

The TRANSFORMERS still rule supreme!

And I'm starting a new day job.

I have some other changes coming up later this year (and I may need some advice on a big decision) but honestly, things have never looked brighter.

Anybody who says two guys can't be happy together in a loving, monogamous "married" relationship can just bite mud, because Lee and I are doing it. We're working on year 4.

OH... and... I've lost 25 pounds since January 1. laugh

Life is good.

Jeff, good news all around! It’s great to hear from you, and I hope to see more of it! smile

New job sounds great, and losing 25 pounds is a huge boost for just feeling better all around. And you’re totally right about doing something you love for work.

And b/t you and Lee and Caroline and Scott, I’m starting to think that people actually *can* live happily ever after! laugh
