This Jim Harper is (I think) one of many clones but the original is a Jack Kirby Golden Age character who was a long-time member of the All Star Squadron and later became a regular supporting character in the Byrne/Ordway era Superman stories. Here's his wiki - ... OK I'm being blocked from posting the link because of the parantheses in the address but if you just look for the Guardian (DC comics) at wikipedia you'll find out all about him.

Originally this was just the Guardian Special then it became Adventure Comics Special, presumably because of the Legion tie in and yet until the preview this week no connection to the Legion was broadcast.
Is this a one shot or will there be more Specials? Will they feature the Legion?
DC has yet again created a shambles

Just read it and it's definitely for completists only. What a turkey.

Very disappointing issue, even for the Guardian story which doesn't seem to add anything to the New Krypton story yet.
Nice to see Tellus for two pages... Not worth buying if you're just doing it for him

Something else else tells me (tellus... get it??? ) that we better watch this title closely. There is no way having Tellus show up randomly, right out of left field, isn't relevant somehow. Cadmus beware ... you are about to take on the powers of THE LEGION!!! ;-)

From Blog @ Newsarama:
Satller did say that Legion of 3 Worlds is a VERY important book in the DCU for the next three years of story-telling.
My comment: as I've said for a long time, Johns will be tying LSH to Superman forever as a secondary team. If not in the 20th Century.
