I confess, and this painfully true, that when I was young I was in a junior bowling league and my team was called something like "The Doom Patrol Bowlers" after the DC superteam. When the teams were selected I wound up with a super-hot older girl and the most incredible doofus possible: this guy looked exactly like Herbie Popnecker and comics were his life. Now I was comicfan too of course, and I first thought, cool, I can talk comics with him. But this guy was such an incredible mega-geek, it was impossible. Only his opinion on all characters could possibly right. It was he, of course, who insited on the team name. The girl and I didn't care. So instead I kept trying to put a move on the girl, but this dickwad would always try to insert himself and say something like, "Hey, how 'bout that darn Hulk!" So she saw us both as tweedledork and tweedledorkier. The Doom Patrol Bowlers. I shoulda held out for "the Legion of Super-Bowlers!" Yeah, that's what I shoulda done! I could of persuaded her! I just needed one vote! I confess that I didn't fight to name my junior bowling team "the Legion of Super-Bowlers." I was out-geeked by tweedledorkier.
