Since I'll be retiring soon, I've been thinking about what I want to have as my last post. There's a lot of inspiration out there, if you know where to look.

Is there really any precedent for a famous last post?

Dude!! if that's the case then like the Who, and every other band that had a farewell tour,..Stu will be back.

Well, boys ... I haven't a thing to say.
Played a great game...all of you. Great game.
(tries to smile.)
I guess we just can't expect to win ‘em all.
(pauses and says quietly.)
I'm going to tell you something I've kept to myself for years --

It was long before your time.
But you know what a tradition he is at Legion World...
(There is gentle, faraway look in his eyes as he recalls the boy's words.)
And the last thing he said to me -- "Quis," he said -
"sometime, when the team is up against it -- and the
breaks are beating the boys -- tell them to go out there
with all they got and win just one for the STUer...
(Quis' eyes become misty and his voice is unsteady as he finishes.)
I don't know where I'll be then, Quis", he said - "but
I'll know about it - and I'll be happy."

Again? You know Stuie, you don't have to "quit" to take a break from posting. You've taken long vacations in the past and that's ok, bubba.
heck, if you quit it just makes it more dramatic to show up once in a while and.. >blink<

D'oh!


Here's an idea, run for LMBP Leader THEN quit. Maximize the dramatics. Make it an over-the-top drama-queen moment for everyone to enjoy.
That sounds like fun.

It is a far, far better post I post, than I have ever posted; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known.

Stuey, this looks like the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Then it don't matter. I'll be all around lurking- I'll be everywhere. Wherever you can look - wherever there's a controversial thread, so dissatisfied people can speculate, I'll be there. Wherever there's a flame war beatin' up a poster, I'll be there. I'll be in the way guys post when they're mad. I'll be in the way newbies laugh when they're hungry and they know supper's ready, and when the people are enjoyin' the threads they raise and livin' in the forums they build - I'll be there, too.

Not long ago, LW's powers that be consigned five posters to the little-used Science Police Headquarters forum for an entire week, and forced them each to compose a post describing "who you think you are." The posters were being punished for various message board infractions on the MMB -- profanity, excessive innuendo, inciting a flame war, and, in one case, because the poster "had nothing better to do." Over the course of the week, the five individuals, who had all come from different posting cliques, learned they had more in common than they thought. The following is their last, collective post (they were subsequently banned permanently).

Dear Mr. Nighty,

We accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole week in this sucky forum for whatever it was we did wrong, but we think you're crazy to make us compose a post telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us... in the simplest terms and the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a curmudgeon... a pervert... an alt... a flirt... and a know-it-all... Does that answer your question?
