Lyle jumping through the boomtube... great bit! Was disappointed there wasn't more of a repurcussion, but great bit nonetheless.

Art... great! The guys seemed to really gel this month, IMO. And that cover... *sigh*

Vi's vulnerability/shrinking -- interesting personality bit.

The KISS! Totally threw me! And I've been wanting to see Lyle wake up with some guy next to him for years... but Brainy?!?! Hmm...

But still... there's something nagging at me, and I'm not sure what it is. Am I just resisiting the idea that I might hafta endure yet another potential retcon? The inconsistencies are really bugging me, with regards to the current team history. Surely it's not as though things are complicated... is it?

Sheesh - people need to calm down: you'd think Querl had posted a big smacker on I-Kid's lips or something.

But it wouldn't have been included at all unless it was going to mean something. I mean, why write it at all, unless you plan to follow up on it. Most of the time in fiction, there are no coincidences.

I thought the art this issue was the best I've seen for a long time.

Now Mr. or Madness?, why the need to deny us our fun? It's not as though there's an actual gay couple to obsess over. These little wink-and-nod scenes are all we get.

Well, yeah, it's 'just a kiss', but... there's context. Brainy's personality and emotional distance from his teammates. Lyle strongly suspected of being gay by fandom, despite creative/editorial teams not having the nads to actually do anything about it. Lyle's own surprised facial expression, and Brainy's discomfort at his unexpected outburst. The interaction itself also received two panels; it was intended to be paid attention to. Finally, placed in the North American context of barely-repressed insitutional homophobia, the outcry of shock and awe-preciation can hardly be, IMNSHO, unexpected.

Yes, it could just be a reaction of relief from Brainy; he proobably views Lyle as his best friend in any event. But I agree with LuckLad - it's fun to imagine the two as a couple and it is one of the more popular pairings suggested by fans, the other being Ayla and Vi.

However, it gives one pause: what will happen to Querl if his advances are rejected? Will he console himself with Kleenex, chocolate and sad songs? Blow up a few labs or go mad, the old standbys? Build a Lyle robot (!!!!)? Or just take it in stride and move on to the next likely candidate?

As long as the word Omega is not spoken...

I noticed that as well, and agree with you 100%. Although, it was this little touch that had me looking for recognizable artifacts at the Time Institute. I did not see anything there. Did you?


I am still thinking, or at least hoping, that in the end we will find that these Time Shifts, which are effecting so many other things, are responcible for this particular change. Whether the religeous fever of the 30th century will be put back "right," or remain Super-centric, I cannot say. It seems to me that DnA are using this storyline to make several changes in the Legion Universe, so that they can take aspects that they inherited and recreate them into a continuity thay want to deal with.

Ooooh, it would almost be worth seeing Lyle reject Brainy if he was gonna build a Lyle robot!

I was thinking Crisis myself. But XS being about 16-17 would put Barry Allen's time in the 30th century roughly 35-40 years in the Legion's past, if we assume Dawn Allen had Jenni when she was around 20-25. So, it could be Zero Hour.

This does play into my theory that DnA are using "Foundations" to recreate current continuity, i.e. the "foundation" of their stories. Not a total reboot mind you, I think they are making a little tweek.

Maybe this is all going to still tie into what they have planned for the Superman titles? Remember, DnA are writing one of those arc.


I've heard others elsewhere describe it the same way. The old Computo ball Brainy had before the version that looked like Validus. I haven't gotten my issue yet so I really don't know.

Possibly. Or an editorial oversight.

Maybe, we will find that this entire issue, once the blips are sorted, actually tookplace before last issue. Or, maybe they were published out of order.

Actually, I think that the reaction this time was to his appearance in the classic super-suit. It sort of took the uproar he has already created merely by being, and bumped it up a notch.

KP's version seems to have them sharing a deep, soulful, open-mouthed kiss.

Here in New England, my version just contains a nice Puritanical peck on the cheek.

God only knows what the version sent to San Francisco contains.

I suppose my copy in Utah then will have the two dressed in black suits with white shirts, riding bikes and spreading the word.

hmmmmm.... good spot. Would broken ribs prevent her from growing? Might, if the break grew wrong, it could become a compound fracture, breaking through the skin.

I did find it interesting that, in reaction to her injury she shrunk not just to regular size, but to tiny size.

I don't know that I would go quite as far back as the Levitz era, but this I do agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment.

I would rate this issue as the best since the Emerald Vi storyline. Hmmmm... that too goes back a few years now, doesn't it?

I get a sence that, with his new internalized force-field power (as opposed to when he used to have the belt) the field flows fromhim such that he is always within the field.

So, if this is true, he certainly could have prevented the destruction of the Time Institute, and the loss of inumerable lives, but only by sacraficing himself.

I see no problem with losing the transuit bands. They were originlly derivied as an excuse for the artistic lisence of not putting the characters in space suits while in space, where they spend a good deal of the time. As such, they have been around since the early to mid '70s.

However, they were only given some visually identifiable aspect after the reboot. Prior to that they were just as you describe: always there and invisible.


But you could share them with us.....

I have not been following the Superman titles for a few years now. What is going on over there that you are referring to?
