I noticed that too! It was very cool, especially in light of their preboot relationship. Only thing is -- I'm a bit worried about Violet. I hope those injuries don't turn out to be more serious than anyone thinks...

Hmmm.... in the preboot Adult Legion stories, an injury was supposed to have robbed Colossal Boy of his super-growth powers... could something good come out of this?

Things I liked: - Shikari: "I understood it was Legion practice to deliver wisecracks at appropriate dramatic moments" This one made me laugh out loud. -The Kiss. At first I thought this was out of character for Brainy. I was certainly very, very surprised. But the more I think about it, the more I like it. To me it makes perfect sense that Brainy does not care at all about the gender of the person he chooses to love (as far as he can control such things). Very rational, I think. And this is a very good way to deal with the push/pull relationship that Lyle and Brainy have had in the past. - Violet in Aylas palm. Good to see these two together, good to see Violet shrink when she feels vulnerable. Things I didn't like: Not very many at all. I would have liked to see some development in the Jarth subplot, but this issue flowed so well that I don't think that was an option. I guess I'll just have to be patient. One thing I really don't like is the replacement of Valorianism for this 'spirit of the Last Son' thing. Oh, well. Even so, an enthusiastic thumbs up from me. This is one of the best issues of this title so far, maybe even since the end of the Levitz era (how's that for a compliment?). Good job, DnAnCnC! Juan PS/Ooohhh!!! Post number 99! I wonder what number 100 is going to be....

One bit of nitpicking with the issue... couldn't Brainy have used his forcefield to contain the bomb?

Yes, that seems like it would have been far more logical (and effective).
Maybe he was too distracted by Lyle's abrupt departure to think straight?

I appears that when Lyle's around he doesn't think straight either.

This issue was great!
Can anyone think of a reason for Kid Quantum's hallucination/vision including that snowy landscape?
Just Brainy and Lyle's fight scene would have made it a fabulous issue. "I said 'Hey!'" was among many great lines delivered. And Brainy falling to his knees after Lyle disappears makes the the exuberance we see later all the better.
I was quite happy with Vi's characterization before, during, and after the final fight scene.
It was also great to see so many legionnaires in action. Some cleaning up the Time Institute, some at Legion World, and more when they rescue Lyle.
Spark holding Vi and Brainy smooching Lyle were nice bones to throw us.
I'll admit, I was happy to not have to deal with Jarth for an issue. Of course, now I have to wait a full month before I get anything. How am I supposed to do that?
Finally and by the way, those time anomalies from ten years ago--technically the post boot legion hasn't even been around ten years has it? Anyway, even that could be a time anomaly.

Zero Hour was roughly 9 and 1/2 years ago. So they could very well be hinting at that. I can't believe this Legion is a decade old.

But, in the book itself has it been ten years too? I kept thinking that one year elapses much slower in the actual pages; though, like I said, even that could be an anomaly.

Not sure about the passage of time in the book. I think its only been 4 years since the founding, comic book time.

I'm thrilled (and still a bit stunned ) to see the Brainey/Lyle kiss, but I admit I don't like seeing Vi and Spark together. For one thing, I prefer Vi straight, for another, I don't like Ayla. Still, it's a nice nod to the TMK era. That said, I liked Vi's characterization this issue. It was nice to see her going into battle with a smile. I've always thought that that was when she was happiest. Something else else she and Brin have in common, it seems. I wonder if part of the reason she stays large is simply that she enjoys fighting as one of the heavy hitters more than as one of the "sneaks" (for lack of a better word.) I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with those ribs, I doubt it was put in for no reason. Overall, I'm really happy with this issue. DnA managed to pack a lot into it, and there was a nice ballance between action and character. The art was really great this isuue, too. I liked the little touches like Jaz's underwear having two straps, it ties in nicely with Umbra's costume, making it part of 31st century fashion.

It couldn't have anything to do with the Mordruverse, could it? I haven't read the issue but when I think of a snowy landscape in Legion, that's the first thing that pops in my head...

I) As soon as I saw P20 (exc ads) I knew this board would go nuts... Can I just point out that in many countries on Earth-present, a kiss is a form of greeting between friends [as in PLATONIC friends] and nothing more. Besides, remember some of the speculation over Jaz jumping on Umbra in 24, and as we all know, she's with Cos now. II) I agree - B5 should have fielded the bomb, not himself. On the other hand, he collapsed after holding the Boom Tube open - maybe he was just too tired to contain that much force? III) SOMETHING has to happen because of Vi's injury - surely they wouldn't be going on and on about it otherwise. And given that if I recall Orion 24 correctly, the Astro Force is the Wrath of God basically, I suppose a big blast of it SHOULD cause some serious injury... EDIT: Found the quote: "The Astro-Force, the harness, my wristbands are one and the same. They are a part of the Source and cannot be destroyed. Not by mortals. Perhaps not even by gods! A power beyond the comprehension of the flesh. They are the wrath of the Source, Lightray! And I, who along stand poised between the ferocity of Apokalips, and the compassion of New Genesis, am its wielder. A light that burns in the heart of darkness! - Orion, to Lightray IV) Okay... I KNOW Apokolips is huge when compared to Earth, and the Boom Tubes shrink any NGs going to Earth/grow anyone going the other way, and its not in normal space. But are they REALLY trying to suggest that it weighs more than a quarter of the universe entire? V) Good: less Superboy. Bad: GET A BETTER FRELLING COSTUME KON!!!!!!!!!! There were riots over how crappy that one is for grife's sake. And speaking of costumes, is there some sort of temporal flux about Cos' costume colour? Its lilac, its blue, its lilac, its blue, now its sort-of-lilac, but bluer than before. VI) Who's mouth-for-a-belly? Don't recognise him. VII) Can I just point out how stupid/impossible it is to register an event ten years in the past: its already happened, and its effect on the present will already have happened. And, in-continuity, even with Legion Lost/Worlds taking a year, you're still pushing it to say three years have elapsed for the team.

WOW!!! Great issue! Now that Beainy & Lyle are a hot item, Val and Andy have pals to go on double-dates with, hooray!
Yep.... something's gonna come of Violet's injury. Her immediete shrinking down following it is a sign. Personally, I'd love to see the return of Gim, Garth and non-god Jan in a full-blown DEVIL'S DOZEN-style happy ending for all!
Loved seeing so MANY Legionnaires in action this issue...!

After recalling all the discussion regarding the inconsistent appearance of transsuit bands in #26, I realized that none of the Legionnaires had them when they were flying around in outer space at the disused stargate.
I think it should be established that the transsuits are just naturally part of the Legionnaires' costumes all the time, and that there isn't typically any discernable physical evidence (i.e., an armband) of them. That would save the artists from having to add them in; it would save the writers from having to explain why someone like Lyle would be willing to spontaneously throw himself into a situation where he might be in outer space without a transsuit; and it would save the readers from having to nitpick about something so relatively minor when everything else is so enjoyable.
On-all-the-time transsuits should be standard Legionnaire equipment, like flight rings -- when you see a Legionnaire floating around, you don't wonder, "Hey, did they remember to wear their ring before they did that?" It's just assumed. And, since they spend so much time in outer space and other hostile environments, I think the transsuits should be the "default" option as well.

This is all true. Honestly? I think the kiss was Brainy happy that Lyle didn't get killed, especially after Norg had the guts to go through a Boom Tube on his own to follow the Darkseid Servants. I really don't think Brainy is gay, and the point is made on that's how friends greet each other in places. Lyle, on the other hand? Gay. The creative teams before DnA/Copiel said so. About freaking time they addressed this, and DnA better not drop the ball this time. VI) Who's mouth-for-a-belly? Don't recognise him.
Okay, I've been looking at that sequence over and over again. I think it's supposed to be J'onn. -Elsewhere

Yes, its J'onn allright As for the Transsuit bands...someone apparently forgot about them while drawing issue #26. That little error aside, I had come up with the idea of getting rid of them anyway. They made little sense to me for the following reasons: 1. Legionairre belts are used for little more than affixing those equipment pouches to their waists. 2. Transuit bands are stored in these pouches. 3. It would make more sense for their belts to contain the technology for the transsuits, since their existing belts are just plain old belts. 4. another option is to integrate the technology right into their suits, afterall if flight tech can fit in a ring, then transsuit tech should be able to fit in their suits. I incorporated this into some redesigns I was fooling around with. See I have a habit of sketching my versions of different characters while working on a book, its something I do strictly for myself mind you, its very rare that I show stuff to an editor, since redesigns would usually fall in the realm of a pencilers perogative.
