Bob Marley. I suspect that's true for many people and even though its cliche, I love me some Bob Marley when I'm in the nice weather. It also makes me immediately want to have a drink (and I don't like those 'vacation drinks', I like a nice whiskey on the rocks).

Please bear in mind that these are not pleasant thoughts... more like , "Ah, summer... season of the ubiquitous, mindless, yet annoyingly catchy tune." but, god help me : Smash Mouth.

Six years ago, I dated a guy for about two months, starting Memorial Day weekend and ending in early August. We were both at a point where we were convinced we'd never find someone, but it just wasn't right. We split up on friendly terms. He left town some time later. We're Facebook friends, so I keep up with him. Actually, I haven't dated anyone with any seriousness since then.
SAPBM,
You can have dinner with any three Legion Worlders whom you have not met in person. Who are they?
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

FC, Fanfic Lass & Arachne. No disrespect meant to the dudes, but I just get sick of being the only woman-type person in the room. Sisters Aligned Peripherally Bring Mirth Did you have a big task that you wanted to accomplish this summer? If so, how close are you to having it completed to your satisfaction?

I would say getting a different job. Kinda doubt it will happen, though in this environment and with my not exactly uncommon job skills.

Stu, EDE, and Set. Between Stu's interest in poetry, Eryk's interest in the classics, and Set's keenly analytical observations on almost any topic, I just think it would make for a fascinating dinner conversation. Why do I envision brandy and pipes being broken out at some point? Somebody, Anybody, Please Be Merciful, Same question.

Well, I've never met anybody, so it's hard to narrow them down to just three. However, with my back against the wall, I'd probably choose Cobie and Stu foremost. The main reason I'd choose these two is I've had SO much creative interaction with them over the last few years on so many levels. The third one is so hard to narrow down! Chuck, Rocky, Abin, Lou, Faraway, Lash, Quis....so many others! Fuck, I'll just say Rocky so I can give him what-for for breaking up with me! Speak And Pontificate By Mandate! Same Q!

Well, I've met a lot of people but there are several incredibly glaring ones! First and foremost--Lardy and Lash, who I've known since the year 2000 but have never met with. Those two know me better than many real life friends! When I met Cru a few years ago (who I've known since around the same time), it was really funny to have met him after all these years and all we could do is just give each other a big hug. Third would probably be Eryk because he's one of the people on LW I've interacted with SO MUCH and get along so well with, and he's probably my favorite person that ever existed or didn't exist. It's hard though. I want to meet Teeds so I can get kicked in the shins and called pipsqueak. APBM, If you could have dinner with several LWers of your choosing, where would you love that meet-up to be based solely on your personal preferences. The one caveat--it cannot be a Comic Con.

This is fantasy, right? I'll take an exclusive tropical beach front resort, so there won't be huge crowds and noise, and we can sit outside overlooking the ocean and chatter on late into the night over good food and drink.

Here!
Everyone gets flown into town and taken to one of my favorite local haunts, which I will have rented for the occasion. I don't mean something tourist-y and overrated, either. And no chains. (Bleah.)
We'll pack up a nice lunch for Quis in advance and bring it along, so he doesn't have to feel left out.
In the tragic event of no rain, we'll eat on the deck.

Eh. I guess She-Ra. Two Nice Girls did write a song about her, after all.

Both.
Fine acting, great characters. Choked on its own mythology and an inability to properly end the storylines.

Nay. It had everything I was supposed to like (continuing storyline, mythology, etc.), but I didn't care for the parnoid "the truth is out there" vibe.
SAPBM,
Have you taken an interest in genealogy? If so, how far back can you trace your family?

I'll take Quislet's question:
Japan. I've always wanted to go there, and it ain't cheap.

I'll repeat HWW's question: Have you taken an interest in genealogy? If so, how far back can you trace your family?

I was into it about 20 years ago.
My mom's mom's side, we have traced back fairly well into mid-1700s Germany (thanks mostly to my great uncle, who in the 1930s had to trace his lineage to prove he wasn't Jewish, in order to keep his job as a minor small-town bureaucrat). Very little on mom's dad's family.
dad's side is largely traced back to early-mid 1800s Ireland (with some sporadic links further back into the 1700s), depending on the branch; one German great-grandpa we don't have anything on before he turned up in 1880s Brooklyn.
SAPBM,
same Q
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

I'm not very interested in my own geneology, but my mother was: mid-18th century Sweden for her family; pretty murky on my father's side before the gang emigrated from Hamburg and what is now Hungary around 1910.

I have a large picture of a mountain range framed by a rocky overpass and the words THINK WIN-WIN below. The picture was a White Elephant gift at a party I attended last year. I traded "up" from some candles and party stockings.
