Aww, thanks guys. I have opened most of presents now and am probably going to spend half the morning playing Civ 4 while Chris and Lynn go food shopping and I wait in for our friends who are driving up from down South this morning. Then tonight (weather permitting) we shall be having a barbeque and copious amounts of alcohol. Yay!

Well Jill and Will, our friends who were driving up from Kent (should take about four, five hours) phoned at quarter to oen to say that they had left at half nine and hadn't even got past London yet so were probably going to turn round and go back home because otherwise what with works on the M1 they wouldn't get to us till about seven and that didn't sound like a great idea. They phoned at seven to say that they'd just got home. Yeek. However, me Chris, Lyn and Lyndsey (plus Lucy and Iain are on there way) are having a barbeque in the rain (very British) but it's warm and we've got the big brolly up and the burgers are ver, very good so that's all OK. Plus I'm starting to get drunk, got very good pressies (Chris adopted the penguins at Chester Zoo for me. Yay! I get to go see them being fed as a special guest or something I think) and have had a very lovely, mellow day today and plan on carrying on tonight.

sounds like you had a great day Bevis. Even with the rain.
And Penguins, yay I love penguins.
I feel sorry for your friends, I reckon that M25 and other road systems around London must be responsible for all the road rage in Britain.

Yeah, they had the misfortune of choosing a day where there seemed to be roadworks on every single major road they needed to go on. Apparently the M25 was actually better than the rest of them and even that (as per usual) was horrendous. Not good. Other than that though I had a pretty darn good weekend. As well as the penguins I got a biography of Lucrezia Borga, a book about Marilyn and Elvis in art, a magnetic Stitch (as in lilo and Stitch) puzzle and a DVD of a concert of music from Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? from Chris. From my elder brother I got three new card/board games, from my sister I got a Rufus Wainwright CD, from Lynn I got Cyndi Lauper's The Body Acoustic CD, from Lucy I got a 3D globe puzzle, from Lyndsey I got March Of the Penguins on DVD (which rather bizarrely has a Bugs Bunny cartoon on it as an extra. Go figure) and from my Mum and Dad I got Civilisation IV. The only bugger there is that despite having our PC completely rebuilt a couple of months ago the video card isn't up to spec for running Civ so I'm going to have to go and buy a new one, darn it. i also got some money from my Mum though as well so I can use some of that to get a new video card since a basic one (which is all I need) is only about £30. So all in all a very good birthday. I'm not usually one for birthdays since they're often a bit of a let down but this time it was all very much worth it.
