Edward VI of England (1537–1553) became King of England and Ireland on 28 January 1547 and was crowned on 20 February at the age of nine. The son of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour, Edward was the third monarch of the Tudor dynasty and England's first Protestant ruler. During Edward’s reign, the realm was governed by a Regency Council, because he never reached maturity. The Council was led from 1547 to 1549 by his uncle Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset, and from 1550 to 1553 by John Dudley, 1st Earl of Warwick, who in 1551 became 1st Duke of Northumberland. Edward's reign was marked by economic problems, military withdrawal from Scotland and Boulogne-sur-Mer, and social unrest that in 1549 erupted into riot and rebellion.

I was looking at the IMDB entry for Laugh-in. In the quotes section, they had these two quotes.

Dan Rowan: [as the News of the Future anchor] Berlin, 20 years from now, 1989. There was dancing in the streets today as East Germany finally tore down the Berlin Wall. The joy was short-lived, however, as the wall was quickly replaced with a moat full of alligators.

Dan Rowan: [as the News of the Future anchor] Item: Washington, DC, 1988. President Ronald Reagan today denied once again that he is a candidate for the office of Governor of California.

The show was on from 1969 to 1973. The fall of the Berlin wall actually happened between November 9, 1989 and June 13, 1990.

Ronald Reagan was president from 1981 to 1989.

I have to take the cat to the vet today. She's got allergies, just like her Evil Stepmom. Poor little monster.

When I was little we called Peppermint Patty (from "Peanuts") "Peppermint Patty Pancakes". I'm not sure why.

The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

When I was little, I used to put a green lawn chair on my head and call myself Peppermint Patty. I'm not sure why.

When I was little, my favorite "Peanuts" character was Linus. The security blanket made him stand out from the rest.

I really like sodas made with real sugar, as opposed to high fructose corn syrup. I wish they'd keep the Pepsi and Mountain Dew Throwbacks around indefinitely.

I cut up my Starbucks gold card. I now drink coffee from 7-11 (or home) -- in my stainless steel Starbucks thermos bottle.

I'm a proxy Avon lady at my work. (My wife sells it, and I bring the books and orders to them and collect the money from them.)

Damn. So much for that "101 Reasons Why True Love Is Dead-Like-Blackest-Night Dead" thread that I was planning on starting in honor of it being February.

Several years ago I bought Christmas ornaments that were figurines of Charlie Brown dressed as Joseph and Lucy dressed as Mary with a doll in a manger. I use it as my Nativity scene every year.

Folk-Blues legend Elizabeth Cotten (who wrote the famous song "Freight Train"), was a Lefty who played a "regular" guitar backwards and upside-down decades before Jimi Hendrix.

My son out of the blue was interested in getting the movie Space jam, but I couldn't find it in Wal-Mart's DVD bargain bins.

I just made a Bloody Mary with Mott's Garden Cocktail and waaayyyyy too much vodka. I've been planning on trying this for weeks, and what do I do? I put too much vodka in... (And there's no more juice to add to it.)
