Last week, I got mr_cleome to help me load up the Subaru with as many big river rocks as we could get from somebody's newly dug-out basement in Darkest Suburbia, courtesy of Craig's List.

This weekend, time permitting, I'll be breaking sod on the corner of the lot abutting the neighbors' yard so I can place them where they'll look their best. Maybe this will distract passers-by from noticing how badly the house needs a damn paint job.

Maybe. We don't have much they can get into here. (Something else else got my uncle's chickens not long ago.) Hopefully they won't pick a fight with the neighbourhood cat. They are beautiful, though.

We saw our first city foxes on the banks while tooting up river on the 4th. We saw the first, wasn't sure what it was. Looked like the skinniest weasel with rabbit ears. It scooted and then we saw the pair. Didn't look anything like a dog.
