My late maternal grandparents were married on this date in 1920. According to the marriage certificate, it was by a Baptist minister on "the side of the road."

A few people know that Gil Kane "cast" the late Paul Newman as Hal Jordan. Fewer people know that Kane "cast" Robert Taylor as Ray Palmer. And thank you, Pov and Arm Fall Off Boy.

Last night several of my staff at the library and I went to a karaoke bar. We had a large time.

I once spent $900 on an ER bill after trying to fix a garage door opener myself.
Cost of Lowe's repair bill after I had to call them anyway?
$150.
Live and learn.

In all the hubbub, we completely missed Dan DiDio's birthday on October 24th. Reeaaally hate that.
Next year he'll be 50. Maybe somebody will cancel him.

I'm trying to maintain my enthusiasm for being online in general, but lately have been unable to find it.

I really REALLY want some dumplings
Remember : It's not technically a suckerpunch if you yell ''DEFEND YOURSELF SPROCKER!'' two seconds before you let him have it.

It's finally cold enough in South Florida to turn off the AC and open the windows.

My current comic-related hobby is to look at covers of war comics, specifically during the 1950's. There is really some amazing stuff, and you can see how DC really was the shining beacon of that genre.

I've begun talking comics with a couple of guys, getting them interested in reading them. One of them is even cute.
Just spouting off.

I have two Ex Machina trades that I have not read.
A friend from Chrysler asked me to help him sort out the financial implications of various Chrysler/GM bankruptcy/merger scenarios.
I was at the grocery store at 3:15 this morning to get food for my 75 year old neighbor.
Oh and apparently I have a 25-year-old son.

My mom told me that my dad voted for the gay marriage ban in Florida. After my mother pointed out why she did not vote for the ban (that is, me), my dad replied, "Oh, that's different. He's my son."
I've decided that my father's own unique brand of logic cannot be explained.

(that reminds me of an Archie Bunker bit, Rocky)
We had a little bit of snow today/last night, mixed in with the rain. It's mostly gone now, but a few flurries waft through the air now and then.
The childhood friend Exnihil never had.

Oh and apparently I have a 25-year-old son. Is this gripping, bragging or just interesting facts? The last 2 especially, are amazing! The first because you're so nice, the other because you're so clueless! Just amazing! Oh, and the part of rope that you're actually using to tie a knot is called the 'working end'.

1268 – Conradin, the last Duke of Swabia, was beheaded in Naples after failing to reclaim Sicily for the House of Hohenstaufen from Charles of Anjou.
He will be avenged!!!!!
