Hmmm, what's this? This door's always been locked before... now it seems someone's left it ajar. I wonder what's in here?

eek

Wow... this-- this is amazing!

[Stu marvels at the opulence of an antechamber that has open archways leading in several directions. The floor is highly polished river stone, and marble columns stretch from floor to ceiling. Tasteful, classical music plays softly in the background.]

This must be the executive lounge for Time Trappers. I'd heard that people who make 10,000 posts on Legion World gain access to an exclusive clubroom, but I thought those were just rumors! I guess it's all true.

As long as no one's around, I think I'll just look around here a bit more, see what else there is...

Oh! Did someone leave the door to the washroom open again?

I must ask you to leave. You will be welcomed back in about 170 posts. Until then this is off limits to you.

This must be the portrait gallery.

There are ten portraits here, one for each current Time Trapper. Each portrait is done in a different style... some are oil paintings; some watercolors; still others, black-and-white photographs.

Here's Cobie's. He's in an enigmatic pose, with his hands folded against his chest, sort of forming wings. He has a pouty expression on his face. Most important, there's a golden wreath draped on the frame of the portrait -- it must signify that he's a Double Trapper.

And here's an empty space with a spotlight shining on it. That must be where my portrait is going to go pretty soon! I should probably start figuring out how I want my portrait to look...

Actually, now is my only chance to post in this thread, as my 10,000th post will be my last one. sigh Besides, once that happens -- which will probably be in a few days -- all these posts of mine will be retroactively valid. wink

And this must be the dining hall.

Underneath a crystal chandelier sits an incredibly long dining table, which seems to have been carved from a single majestic redwood, polished to a smooth sheen. The table is laden with silver platters bearing all sorts of delicious foods: roasts, succulent filets, lobsters, cornucopias bursting with garden-fresh fruits and vegetables, tureens of savory soups and stews, and all the sweets and desserts one can imagine. Golden chalices are filled with fine wines and champagne, as well as a variety of non-alcoholic potables.

There are ten chairs around the table, each one in a different style -- there's a plush recliner, a humble wooden stool, and even a gaudy throne encrusted in jewels. There is room at the end of the table for an eleventh chair.

Here's the washroom!

The walls comprise strata from different prehistoric eras -- it looks like they were carved out and transported here from the bottom of a time-worn canyon. There are fossils of trilobites and other ancient creatures embedded in the rock here and there.

Small streams of water trickle down over the rock walls, providing a number of private alcoves for washing. A flat-topped boulder in the center of the room holds a number of organic, all-natural, and lushly fragrant body bars, skin-conditioning butters, and hand and body creams.

I'm now in the cloakroom where the Time Trappers store their robes.

I guess Cramer effectuated some changes in the customary Time Trapper attire. The ten robes that are hanging here are all quite clearly variations on the theme of the traditional purple Time Trapper hooded cloak, but they're not all purple and they're not all of the same material.

There's one that's fashioned from the finest, most supple silk; another that's butter-soft cashmere; and yet another that's polyester! Some look like they would drape modestly over a human form, while others are considerably more revealing.

This is definitely the central chamber here -- a lounge, study, and library all rolled into one.

It's a perfectly round room, and its walls are lined with bookshelves that are stocked with what must be hundreds of thousands of books, periodicals, and graphic novels. It seems as though just about any novel, magazine, or comic book worth reading is somewhere on the shelves here.

In the center of the room is a huge, floating prism that has ten vertical faces of equal dimensions -- although it looks expandable. Each face is wide enough to encompass what would be the equivalent of a 100" flat screen monitor. Some of the monitors are displaying high-definition images of various programs -- there's one showing Masterpiece Theatre; another one showing an animated Adult Swim program; a third showing a college football game; and yet another one, oddly enough, showing barn animals mating.

A variety of sumptuous divans, chaises longues, canapés, and oversized ottomans are positioned around the prism to provide ideal viewing for the programs displayed on the prism's faces.

Above, Moroccan-influenced drapes in a shimmering array of colors seem to be suspended in the air, rising from just above the bookcases until they disappear into the darkness in the center of the room. There seems to be no discernible ceiling; instead, the entire center of the room recedes into an infinite, inky darkness filled with countless stars.

If one looks carefully, constellations depicting each of the ten current Time Trappers can be discerned among the glittering stars. A bit ostentatious, certainly... (I can't wait to get one of my own!)

That was pretty impressive. I have to say, though, that some of the decor here is a bit reminiscent of certain rooms in STU's Mansion. I wonder if they used the same architect? wink

Oh well, I should probably leave, before I get thrown out.

Hey, what's this...? Another door, discreetly tucked away at the end of a darkened corridor? It's securely locked. There seem to be some words chiseled in its surface:

The 100,000 Club.

I guess it'll be a while before anyone finds out what's on the other side, eh? wink

Anyway, I can't wait until I get to visit this place again. smile

Be careful not to check out the room to the right. Its where Time Trappers go when they want to see their post counts + all the post counts of their different alt IDs over the years for a true summary of posts. Its amazing how close I am to triple trapper!

The polyester robe is for Cobie. He needed something a little more durable due to his excessive total post count.

I'm just getting my official portrait ready, as I'll be joining this club in a few days.

Since I'm pretty camera-shy, I've decided that I'm not going to have a traditional picture of myself hung up in the gallery.

Instead, in the spirit of the saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words," I've written a one-thousand word prose poem about myself, which I'll have a calligrapher pen in nice script, and frame.

I'm designing my Time Trapper attire now.

It's going to be a flannel hoodie in a purple/navy blue/black plaid pattern, and black boot-fit jeans.

Hey, even time-manipulating tyrants like to be comfortably dressed!

Why bother giving him a robe that he's only going to wear once?

When a friend of mine was getting married (since divorced), another friend ask the same question (albeit the price was less) of the bride-to-be about buying such an expensive dress that only was going to be worn once. The bride-to-be responded "Well, my daughter can wear it too." To which my friend (not the groom) said "So why aren't you wearing your mother's dress?"

Well, two things...

(1) The robes are really ceremonial attire; they're not necessarily meant to be worn all the time. The ten current Time Trappers, after all, usually wear other clothing. Rather than a wedding gown, I think of it like a cap and gown worn for graduation... it's more to commemorate a special occasion than to serve as a uniform marking one's status. The fact that the Time Trappers' robes are hanging in a cloakroom also suggests the occasional nature of their use.

(2) Once one becomes a Time Trapper, the position's inherent, time-manipulating powers kick in -- and the individual will, retroactively, always have been a Time Trapper since the first day of his or her LW membership. If you don't believe me, click on my profile in one of my old posts once I hit the 10,000 post mark.
