Well actually I always thought they should do a Legion title a few hundred years after the original Legion...and used the original Legion as inspiration. Same universe, same planets, same setting, etc.
But clearly Dan Didio is declaring war upon Legion fandom with comments like this "thousands". We must boycott DC immediately. You all meet me in your Legion uniforms from last Halloween and make picket signs! We are going to NYC!

Of course in the last 2 months we've also seen Supergirl (in #2) say that Starfire is from another galaxy rather than another solar system. And in IC that Polaris is not only a galaxy of its own, but that it has already sucked up other galaxies. So if DC can't keep the difference between a solar system and a galaxy strait, I'm not suprized that they can't tell that the 31st century is a thousand years from now rather than thousands...

That's a good point JCC. If these titles are going to have plot devices and essential character elements based on science, then the science should either be correct and consistent or at least plausibly circumvented. The outsourced improbability that drives the Legion's transmatter is, to me, an acceptable way to circumvent the unlikelihood of such a technology ever existing.
