I considered this a TEEN TITANS book, because, well, they were the JLA proteges and stuff. And that's what the Teen Titans are.
I'm currently re-reading this to determine if I want to keep it, but I'm 99.999% sure I will. I'd forgotten how fun this series was.
And I haven't even made it to the issue whre the girl join yet! Things get even more fun when girls join up, everyone knows that!

Loved YJ.
Feel offended at the borderline-insulting "other Teen Titans" name. They weren't the Titans, and that was not a bad thing.

True! Plus the first few issues were on that slick paper I didn't like.

Derogatory? Nonsense. YJ *did* fill the Teen Titans void.

Then consider my use of the phrase "other Teen Titans" hyperbolic.

I may have to shift my comic boxes again to get out the YJ "full coverage" issue. Tee hee!
For me, YJ was frequently the comic in the pile that stood out, surprised me. That was a title I would have been glad to recommend to a preteen or young teen, although I don't think an opportunity presented itself. (Wait...I bought the first YJ trade for a B&N holiday book drive for kids, so I guess I did.)
Was T. Nauck the right artist for the right book, or what?

Has Cissie made any appearances or been mentioned lately, other than Cassie (?) saying "that's not Cissie" when she saw the picture of Speedy in "the future"?

Not that I'm aware of.
I *loved* Arrowette, and posted on the old DC board that she was the best-written young lady in comics.

She's in the TEEN TITANS/OUTSIDERS SECRET FILES 2005 issue, appearing in a story with Wonder Girl (Cassie).

I liked Arrowette too -- she was probably my favorite. I especially liked her remaining a part of the comic even though she left the team. She quit superheroing, not her friendships.
Did you see her early appearances in Impulse?

I had all her IMPULSE appearances, even the ones after I quit collecting the book regularly. What a cutie!

Dude!! I Cissie. (<shameless plug>She would be half the protagonist in my fic in bits. </shameless plug>) Arrowette was so my favorite of the YJ girls. I'm happy she's not been totally forgotten in Teen Titans. I did like that she goes to the Elias School for Girls with Cassie. I just wish she could have a role like she did in YJ. Oh well, at least she's in the Secret Files!!

I still miss this title. Stupid editorially-mandated team reshufflings ... some names are (or should be, tanjit) specific to certain groups ... It's not "The Titans" without any of the Fab Five. It's not "The Outsiders" without Halo, Katana, or Geo-Force.
"Gee, Brainy, what do you want to do tonight?" "The same thing we do every night, Bouncing Boy: try to take over the United Planets!!" They're B.B. and The Brain ...

So I'm still rereading YJ.
Were they, like, a huge hit at first or what? An all-YJ SECRET ORIGINS 80-page giant, a YJ 80-page giant, a Secret Files 1-shot, and a YJ special (Lagoon Boy guest-starred)... all this in the first year.

So last night I read the powerful YJ # 15, which features the last days of Arrowette. And the ramifications in # 16.
I couldn't believe PAD went through with it, but he did.
Cissie maintained her ties with them, and even participated in adventures (the space-baseball story) but never again appeared as Arrowette.
She kind-of kept the non-powered/non-costumed member tradition alive.
Meanwhile, I was annoyed at the fact that Red Tornado was denied human rights re: Traya yet he was arrestable.
PAD played it off as Old Justice interference. Good enough.
coming up: SINS OF YOUTH!

Finished SINS OF YOUTH (including the JSA, Wonder Girls, Deadman, JLA and Aquaman 1-shots-- I skipped the Super/Bat/Flash ones) storyline and-- LOVED IT.
How could I have forgotten how much fun YOUNG JUSTICE was? My favorite 1-shot was probably the JSA one; I liked how at the end they all fell asleep and Courtney joined them. It also had a nice moment for Gimmick-Girl Merry.
Question: Why are de-aged androids so cute? De-aged Red Tornado and Hourman were precious, and the villainous teen-Amazo was a hottie with his "NO JLA" tattoo and his chin-pubes!
Also read the "Olympics/Zandia" tale-- AWESOME and heavy Cissie-focus.
Might I add Todd Nauck rawks?
Next: SPACE-BASEBALL! Yay!

This was one of my favorite series of all time... gotta love the PAD.
The one thing I always remember is the cover where the team is "fleeing" Mt Rushmore and there is all these sticks of dynamite in one of the noses... and one of the team members says, "She's gonna blow!"
That tickles me everytime. I wasn't too pleased with Sins at the time... the periphery stories just didn't aid the main story too much. I'm planning on rereading the series again in the near future though... have to see if its as good as I remember it.
Something Filthy!

So YJ's entire monthly PAD/Nauck run was during my first hiatus from ongoing superhero comics and I've been catching up via back issues, and...AAAAUGH! I can't find #54-55, the final two issues, anywhere! I've looked at a half dozen stores, and nothing!
Somebody please spoil it for me, what happens in those two issues? And I'd suggest putting it in a spoiler box so that anybody who hasn't yet had the full YJ experience doesn't have it spoiled for them.

I've actually totally forgotten and will need to re-read in order to tell you...
IMO they should bring back YJ with PAD writing and cancel Teen Titans. Why? Re-reading this thread made me realize: ANYone else would have killed Cissie off after she ditched her Arrowette guise. That's awful.

Sad but true, Lash, sad but true.
Anyhow, I greatly look forward to your appraisals of the final two issues. Thanks.
