Because he considered Duela Dent "too silly" for the Titans.
Hey, you can have all the Crises on Infinite Earths you want, dude, but I still have TEEN TITANS # 44-53, the short-lived 70s revival, and in it Duea Dent is VERY CLEARLY a member of the team!
Thankfully, George Perez fought for and won a scene for Duela in TT # 50, Donna's big wedding.
And fortunately, today's creators like Devin Grayson, Phil Jiminez and Geoff Johns don't consider Duela Dent "too silly".
Maybe if Wolfman could explore his sillier side, he could start writing comics that sell again. It's worth a shot anyway.
It's attitudes like Wolfman's that would have kept a LOT of fun out of the Legion.

Some of the few, non-current Titans comics that I've brought here from Indiana are my issues of #44-52. In preparation of this event, I've been looking back through my Titans comics and I have to say that Joker's Daughter/Harlequin is one of the best, most interesting characters. It's a shame that she was left by the wayside.

She was the original Donna Troy!
"She's the Joker's daughter! ...No, wait, she's TWO-FACE'S kid! ...No! She's just a nutjob! No, wait again...!"
WHO IS DUELA DENT???

I agree! EDE, I'm putting you in charge of Batman. Here's what I wanna see: The Joker dead as graphically and horribly as possible ON PANEL, Harley & Duela duking it out to claim the JOKER i.d., and Batman dancing the batusi. Show me the money!!

Now that your Drura wish has been realized, it's time to Take up the Duela cause, Lash!
PS: I love how you love the "supporting-character" girls, sweetie. Drura! Lana! Duela! Lilith!

I think I could have a lot of fun writing Batman. Finding the appropriate amount of zaniness would be a challenge.

Teeds, you're in charge of the Wonder Woman family. Make her kick ass more!!! Oh, and get Donna and Lilith back, pronto. Find some way to retcon out that silly miniseries that killed them. Get me back Hippolyta too, while you're at it. I want her back in JSA.

There's this really weird storyline in the first Batman Archives where Bats is traveling through Europe and meets a guy with no face. I don't know if that was ever revisited again, but it will be.

Wonder Tot? I'm TOTALLY feeling it, Teeds. Remember to make her the most ass-kicking tyke around...
Eryk, your BATMAN is gonna be HOT! I'll see if Jim Lee wants to come back for this arc...

I don't personally dislike Marv Wolfman, I guess, but I don't like that he married Donna off to that awful middle aged man with the perm. (Oh wait the awful middle aged man with the perm was Marv's Mary Sue wasn't it?)
Remember kids, Mary Sue-ing is not big or clever. Not even if you're A Big Important Comic Book Writer Who Gets Paid And Everything. And you know it really is best if you don't translate the fact that you have a crush on one of your characters by writing yourself into the story!
And why did George Perez give nearly everybody a perm anyway? It was compulsory for everyone in the Titans to have a Big Perm. Apart from Raven. Who could have done with a whack with the curlers now and again. (Great Hera! her hair was so straight it hurt!)
BTW, I hope this Titans theme isn't permanent! I like the Titans and all, but they will never have the same place in my heart that the Legion does!
**is horribly afraid that DC is going to make the LSH into some kind of Teen Titans auxillary junior partner and the Legion fangirl in me screams nooooo! the Titans are johnny come lately parvenus! The Legion was there first! The Legion is senior partner! waaah waaah waah etc. repeat to fade)**
Oh yes, and bring Donna back to life already. But that isn't Marv Wolfman's fault.
I don't usually approve of killing characters off. But my, did I cheer when they killed off the Mary Sue.
Die Terry Long! Die!!!! oh he already did. Good.
Carry on.
Fire in the disco! Fire in the Taco Bell! Fire in the disco! Fire in the gates of hell!!

*tee hee!* Cute post, I-Drura!
The TITANS theme here isn't permanent, by the way, just a fun diversion until the crossover comes out!
VERY good point about Terry Long-- I never knew he was Wolfman's "Mary Sue". I always disliked Terry's character-- now I'm repulsed by him.
Oh, and I guess I should state for the record that I don't dislike Wolfman PERSONALLY-- just certain of his his attitudes toward the TITANS.

I'll get right on it! Should I include Mantis, Captain Comet, and the rest? Pages and pages of Kalibak vs. Grodd, with Funky giving color commentary?
I'll even have Nardo come back in time for this one!

Just go ape with it, Cobes-- you any villains you want! Even The Bug-Eyed Bandit! In fact, I insist on the Bug-Eyed Bandit!
Do it Geoff Johns-on-FLASH style, and make the villains all deep and interesting and stuff! But funny too. Oh, and lots of Grodd vs. Kalibak!
And don't forget Star Sapphire!
