sigh and giggle.
I'm don't have that much Labyrinth memory.
I just remember that Bowie was amazingly cast, the beautiful girl assumed too much and she rescued her little brother in the end.
smile

The Amethyst model reminds me of at least 2 (or 3) of the drawings on the first page, with her pronounced cheek bones, pointed chin, scads of blonde hair and intense eyes.

Anyway, I'll try to do better next time.

I finally got around to drawing something. I did this completely in Painter. I think it turned out okay. The eyes should have been darker, though. For some reason, it looks blue on my screen.

I hadn't colored it, but I have now. I didn't have much handy in the way of reference so I don't know how accurate it is. My comics are buried in the attic and it probably would have taken me longer to find one with Jewel in it than it took to color the piece.

Here's a couple of Amethysts that I colored.

These were drawn by Mark Brooks and Cliff Chiang respectively.

Okay, Jewel, I like. I REALLY like.

And, although I don't have anything Amethyst to post, I might as well mention a B&B story idea.

Amethyst & Leslie Thompkins.

I was wondering about that. Who's Leslie Thompkins?

Leslie Thompkins. She's a woman from the Batman mythos. She helped Bruce when he was child, helping him deal with his parents death. She runs a clinic in Crime Alley.

There was this whole bullshit going on when it was revealed that she "allowed" Stephanie Brown to die as a statement to Batman about how dangerous his work is, especially with his sidekicks. And thankfully that was retconned where it was revealed she helped Steph fake her death.

I don't know about the color of her eyes, but I love the 'look' of them.
It's a nice drawing, period.

If I were an art instructor, I'd say the mouth needs to be a little wider on the left side (right side facing us), so that it ends = to the middle of her eye.
But that's a very minor detail.
The drawing is lovely.

Nice, but I'd hope she'd end up with more clothes than that. smile

Forgot to mention, I found an Amethyst sketch at Colleen Doran's web site.

sigh
I know.
But, it's hard to pass up a photo of a beautiful blonde with a crown, a sword and no apparent cleavage (sorry, no spell check either.)

Life can be tough.

Thanks for the Doran pic.

Well, Amy carries a sword.
She should be able to use it.

And last time I saw her ('I' didn't technically see her as a villian at all but I read about it on a DC thread about Amy years ago), someone had written her as a villian.
In the Legion Mysa/Amethyst joining she wore even less!
Even as Jewel she didn't wear any more.

Anyway, I suppose if I want Tasmia to have more clothes than they give her, I should want Amy to have them, too.

And where is she in Final Crisis?

Infinite Crisis: The official sequel to Crisis on Infinite Earths. Where Superboy-Prime and Alex Luthor Jr. went bad and the Multiverse was recreated. Amethyst was with all the other spellcasters at Stonehenge where they tried to summon the Spectre. Amethyst actually managed to stop the Spectre, earlier in the series, from destroying Gemworld, she's currently the last Lord of Order, whereas Mordru's the last Lord of Chaos.

Shadowpact: I should've said "Day of Vengeance", it was a lead-up tie-in to Infinite Crisis, where a group of six magic heroes teamed up to try and stop a rampaging Spectre from destroying all magic, under the influence of the new Eclipso, Jean Loring. Amethyst was a partial member in the Special Issue, where she helped some of the other members gather up the pieces of the Rock of Eternity after it shattered in Gotham City.

I thought I'd try again.
I'm at slow at learning from my mistakes, it's genetic.

There's no purple, but she so reminds me of the drawings where she's become one with Gem World - Zerox - Sorceror's World:

When Mordru destroyed the planet Sklar the spirit of Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld, offered Bel An'ann a second chance at life...In return for saving her, Amethyst would co-inhabit Bels' Body, thus becoming corporial and able to attack Mordru outside the spirit plane, where he would be less powerful.
The process however left both Amethyst and Bel amnesiac. subconciously using Amethysts powers to teleport herself to her sister Britas' (see Kono) side, mere minutes from Sklars' destruction, Bel spent the next few years trying to peice together the converging memories of her two selves. As she started to exhibit various new and different powers, Bel enrolled in the Academy, much to the distress of her Legion-Hating sister who blamed the Legion for the Destruction of her homeworld. Brita eventually followed Bel to the Academy with the intention of keeping her out of trouble and is becoming increasingly distressed at Bels' apparent split personality...that of the Sweet, somewhat shy Bel and the tough, no-nonsense Amethyst.

Powers and Abilities -
Initially Bel/Amethyst only displays a limited teleportation ability, however over time more and more powers emerge, including the ability to to fire force bolts, heal grevious injuries, fly and control the elements.

Subplot-
As time progresses the Amethyst personality gradually takes over Bel's body. Eventually Bels/Amethysts' memories return piece by piece until, fully restored to the height of her power, Amethyst takes over the body completely.Brita becomes increasingly more and more resentful of Amethyst and decides to find a way to seperate the Two...She seeks counsel with the Mysa Nal (the White Witch) who performs a ritual of seperation, transfering the essence of Amethyst into a Crystaline body created by Bob Kohan (Crystal Kid). Bel, retaians both a portion of Amethysts personality and her power.

Joe-boys notes -
Obviously a bit of a phoenix homage here. Ive been kicking the whole Amethyst-as-Legionnaire idea around for a few years now...considering she made her first appearence in a Legion book (admittedly as a teaser story) and then took over Kono's body in the Mordru Rising Story. Bel An'ann was originally Kono's Mother, but it made more sense to make her into a sister. Meanwhile can I just say how much I love Amethyst? I always thought of her as the DC version of She-Ra, atleast thats what she origianlly appeared to be. I read somewhere that there was even a few prototype dolls out there that never made it onto the market...

With my t15 server being down almost 2 weeks now I'm searching for a new place to put the Amethyst site. At the moment it looks like it'll be absorbed into my main one.

Since Levitz kept the Magic Wars in the retro/Nuboots continuity, we may someday see Amy again.

Please let me know if you see her. I know she'll be on the new DC Nation Shorts on Cartoon Network, but other than that, I've seen a little here and there.
