Anyone have any ideas what they would have liked to have seen happen in the 3rd season of the Legion animated series? I have a couple of story ideas I'm currently working on and then I'm running out of new things to write about. It was easier to think of story ideas when the new episodes were airing because there were so many things that happened that a writer would just want to see more of an explanation for. Any fan fiction writers want to get together and try to write a virtual season 3? If anyone wants to brainstorm ideas, would love to see some commments posted here. Also, I have a couple of writers mailing lists like http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wstorm/ if anyone wants to join and discuss topics in more detail. Have definitely been enjoying reading the stories mentioned in this forum to date and hope those writers will continue to share new stories with us.

Nemesis Kid infiltrating the LSV might make for a nice story.

I have an idea kicking around in my head for a follow-up to the events of "Sundown." (No, it doesn't involve Ferro Lad coming back.)
From what I know of S3, it was supposed to take place at least three years after S2. Blok, Wildfire and Dawnstar were all supposed to have some decent screen time. Brainy was supposed to come back, of course; presumably also B1.
I would definitely have liked to see some of the characters who got little or no screen time before have some attention paid to them. The female characters, in particular. It really bothered me how obviously they were shunted out of the way for most of S2. The story idea I mentioned above would definitely involve mostly female characters.
Hey, Kids! My "Cranky and Kitschy" collage art is now viewable on ipernity! Drop by and tell me that I sent you. *updated often!*

I really don't think I like the idea of waiting another two or three years. I didn't like the idea of it between seasons 1 and 2 either. However, it might be a way to bring Ayla back into the cast if she's a little older. Maybe she'd be about as old as Cham is in season 2? Wonder if they'd leave her with Lightning powers or find a way to change them. The comic book mentioned the possibility of bringing Kara into the storyline. That would be interesting. We also got to see Invisible Kid and some of the other subs that didn't yet join the 5 in the Legion of Substitute Heroes at the tryouts. Would have liked to have seen more of them. Also, was wondering when Ultraboy was going to join up. Am wondering if they would have brought back Brainiac 1.0 or called him Brainiac 6 like it supposedly says in the credits. Would be interesting to see Brainiac 5 fighting Brainiac 6 over the Brainiac legacy and how future Brainiacs will be remembered in the galaxy. They'd need a good reason to bring the Legion including Brainiac 5 and Superman back together for the 3rd season. Am wondering if it wouldn't take more than just Brainiac 6. Maybe Brainiac uses the other Legion's enemies against them, but Imperiex already tried that one. Would have liked to have seen more of the various planets in the UP. We saw some of Winath, Zune, Raal and Earth. Would have been nice to find out more about places like Colu, Braal, Titan, etc. and their people.

Random cartoon story idea I had before they introduced Shrinking Violet (but after the Subs episode). [I never finished it, after Shrinking Violet was shown on-screen, since the point of it was her introduction.]
Secret Weapon
“So what’s the urgent news, Brainy?”
Universo has escaped from Takron-Galtos. Brainy has photos, explains to Superman, who doesn’t know, that Universo is from Titan, Saturn Girls’ homeworld, but has powerful mind control abilities.
The Subs contact the Legion with ‘information’ and ask the Legion to come meet them. Subs, mind-controlled by Universo, ambush the Legion.
Stone Boy gets Brainy to look at the ‘captive,’ and then suddenly grabs Brainy’s wrist and neck, and then converts to stone, preventing him from shifting into his combat form.
A red flash occurs, as dozens of quills from Porcupine Pete fly towards the Legionnaires. Superman flies to intercept, but the quills pierce his hide! He rips them out, and Color Kid exposits that they’ve done their homework, pointing up at the sun and mentioning how Superman is powerless under *red* solar radiation.
Timber Wolf leaps at Porcupine Pete, knocking him down and they roll around in a cloud of dust before Timber Wolf stands up. The camera is behind him and he looks to be the clear victor, but as the camera pans around, his chest is stuck with dozens of quills and he staggers back. A fresh wave of quills comes from Pete on the ground and Timber Wolf falls over, arm frozen in the air as Pete gets to his feet, explaining that Chlorophyll Kid showed him how to use ‘plant-based toxins’ on his quills, and that Timber Wolf is now pumped full of paralytic poison.
Brainy shouts for Superman to get clear using his flight ring, but Chlorophyll Kid has other plans, and ‘Skaalian vampire vines’ sprout up, entangle Superman’s legs and pull him to the ground. Lightning Lad starts blasting the vines, but Color Kid makes his eyes turn black, blinding him. Saturn Girl tells him to relax before he starts blasting his team-mates, saying that she will guide him telepathically, but Infectious Lass infects her with ‘sleeping sickness’ causing her to get woozy and collapse, leaving Lightning Lad blind and spinning around, hands glowing, trying to listen for a target. Bouncing Boy tries to ‘bounce’ Superman out of the vines, and succeeds, only to end up entangled himself! Superman staggers free, costume torn, only to be surrounded by Infectious Lass, Chlorophyll Kid and Color Kid, who beat him down before he can attempt to fly away.
Under the artificial red solar radiation, Superman drops quickly. He collapses and Porcupine Pete flings a handful of quills into Lightning Lad to shut him down as well. Brainy calls for Bouncing Boy to get free, that he’s ‘the only one who can,’ and Bouncing Boy deflates suddenly, so that the thorny bloodsucking vines aren’t holding him tightly, and zips free with his flight ring, vanishing into the sky faster than Porcupine Pete, Color Kid or Infectious Lass can try to bring him down.
The ‘informant’ the Subs had captured looks up and is Universo (whom we’ve seen in Brainy’s briefing) and he laughs as Brainy says that he’ll never get away with it. Universo laughs and takes Brainy’s Flight Ring, saying that he already *has* ‘gotten away with it.’

[Continued] Next scene is of Bouncing Boy, costume ripped up, looking like he’s on the verge of passing out. He gets a Ring signal from Brainy saying that Superman broke free of the red solar radiation and managed to beat the Subs, and that Bouncing Boy should ‘come on home for medical attention.’ Bouncing Boy agrees and signs off, but his eyes narrow.
Next scene is of Universo hovering in front of the floating chair that Brainy usually sits in, with Superman, Lightning Lad, Timber Wolf and Saturn Girl bowing in front of him. They get up, and their eyes are blank. Universo hands Saturn Girl a blaster pistol and orders her not to use her pesky powers. “Best not to take any chances.”
Bouncing Boy enters the room, and the mind-controlled Legionnaires move to block sight of Universo, while Lightning Lad puts on a really fake looking enthusiastic smile, “Bounce, buddy, you made it!” but his eyes remain blank and one hand behind his back is crackling with electricity. “We’ve got a surprise for you.” Saturn Girl adds, with a matching blank expression on her face.
“I’ve got a surprise, too,” Bouncing Boy says, “Brainy would *never* tell me to ‘come on home.’ He’d say, ‘return to headquarters’ or something.” He points behind the others to where Universo is skulking behind Brainy’s hoverchair in the shadows, “I know you’re there Universo, you might be able to fool a Flight Ring, but you can’t fool me!”
Universo steps out, clapping, “Bravo. But I still win.” He gestures expansively at the mind-controlled Legionnaires, “You walked into my trap, after all…”
“Wrong!” comes Cosmic Boy’s voice, as he hovers down, and at the same time, Star Boy, Matter-Eater Lad, Star Boy and Phantom Girl also enter the room from different directions, in their own styles.
Fight ensues, with Phantom Girl leading Timber Wolf on a merry chase. He tells her that she ‘has to turn solid some time!’ and she mockingly points out that she really doesn’t! He then points to her friends, under attack by the others and notes that as long as he keeps her busy, she can’t help them, and Universo will win in the end. She looks concerned, but keeps dodging.
Lightning Lad starts flinging lightning blasts at Cosmic Boy, who blocks them with bits of metal, and then begins flinging them at Lightning Lad in a magnetically propelled storm of debris. Both begin flying evasively around the room, trying to get a shot on each other.
Saturn Girl opens fire on Star Boy, who is knocked aside by Matter-Eater Lad. Matter-Eater Lad lands in front of Saturn Girl suddenly and chomps her blaster pistol. In rebuttal she kicks him in the head! It’s on, and they circle each other swinging and punching and kicking.
Superman flies up and his eyes glow red. He appears to be about to blast Bouncing Boy, when suddenly he starts dropping out of the air. He looks over to see Star Boy, fist clenched in his direction. Star Boy’s fist moves and Superman drops even lower. Star Boy smiles. Superman threatens, “I can fly, I have super-strength *and* I’m wearing a Flight Ring. Make me a hundred tons heavier, I’ll still get to you…” he begins rising slowly, proving his point. Star Boy opens his fist and flips his hand over, palm to the sky, making a gesture as if he’s tossing something over his shoulder, and Superman looks surprised for a second before rocketing into the air, into and *through* the ceiling like a runaway rocket.
“How about a hundred tons *lighter?*” Star Boy says rhetorically, to the hole in the ceiling.

[yet more]
Meanwhile, the Subs are waking up, clearly not mind-controlled, in a bunch of jail cells with energy field doors. There is the sound of a loud crash, and we see Stone Boy, in stone form, fall back from the wall, which has a tiny dent in it, turn back to flesh, get to the far end of the room, and run at the wall again before turning to stone and leaving another tiny dent…
“I calculate that it will take another three days for you to break out in that manner, Stone Boy,” comes the dour voice of Brainiac 5, and the camera pans to show another jail cell, with only Brainy’s head sitting on a prison bunk, looking annoyed.
“Do you have a better idea?” Stone Boy says, rubbing his head as he gets up.
“As a matter of fact, I do,” Brainy notes.
“Color Kid, I need you to black out those security cameras.”
Color Kid enthusiastically does so, his power going right through the force fields holding them in their cells.
“Infectious Lass, the marialossa bacilli can eat through plastic and even metal, in sufficient quantities. If you can secrete them around the emitters in your cell, you might be able to short out the force field.”
Infectious Lass squirts her inhaler, and then kneels in front of the energy field and begins shooting germs at the floor, which begins to, very slowly, visibly discolor.
“Chlorophyll Kid, you’re our best bet. Please tell me that they didn’t take away your seeds…”
Chlorophyll Kid looks crestfallen, and points to a pile of seeds across the room. “Actually, they did…”
“Can you affect them from here?”
“I don’t know, I’ve never tried from this far away before.”
“Try.”
“Grow!” he shouts and the seeds don’t react. “Grow!!!” and the seeds quiver slightly and one falls off of the counter and rolls until it is right against the door to Porcupine Pete’s cell. “GROW!” he shouts one last time, and the closest seed sprouts into a tree, which quickly begins to buckle both the floor and ceiling as it grows too big to fit in the room. Finally the wall warps enough that the cell door fails, and Pete is free.
Following Brainy’s directions, he quickly frees the others, and as Stone Boy carries Brainy’s head out of the prison area, Brainy can be heard saying, “We have to find my body…”

[and more] Meanwhile, back in the fray, Saturn Girl has just flipped Matter-Eater Lad, who was attempting to grapple and restrain her. Looking up from the ground, he sees Universo and his eyes go blank. He gets up and he and Saturn Girl both fly towards Star Boy, who is madly evading a pissed-off looking Superman. Bouncing Boy attempts to distract the Kryptonian, but gets backhanded away and bounces around the room madly out of control screaming. Just as Star Boy drops under a punch from Superman, Superman goes flying as a massive red fist clocks him in the side, throwing him through the wall and back outside the building. Colossal Boy smiles to Star Boy, and they turn to see the new danger as Saturn Girl jumps on Star Boy, attempting to pull him to the ground for Universo to mind-control.
Matter-Eater Lad turns to see Lightning Lad trying to get through a wall of metal that Cosmic Boy keeps throwing in the way, and runs over and chomps a massive hole in Cosmic Boy’s last line of defense. Lightning Lad smiles as Matter-Eater Lad chomps down the nearest bit of convenient metal debris that Cosmic Boy could use as cover and turns, eyes and hands glowing, to blast Cosmic Boy.
Colossal Boy is reaching for Timber Wolf, when a blue and red missile strikes him and he falls heavily, shaking the whole room. Superman is back, and he looks like he is just about to punch Colossal Boy in the face (standing on his chest), when suddenly Colossal Boy’s eyes go blank, and Superman just flies off of him as Colossal Boy gets up to join Universo’s team.
The Subs enter the room at this point, with Brainy, having nearly been flattened by the falling Colossal Boy, and they gulp, clearly intimidated by the carnage in front of them.
“Get Universo!,” Brainy shouts, and goes into his combat form, onto to be seized up and flung away by Colossal Boy.
Porcupine Pete shoots a handful of quills at Universo, while Color Kid attempts his red solar radiation trick again, and Infectious Lass sends germs Saturn Girl’s way, but ends up hitting both Saturn Girl and Star Boy, who begin sneezing. Universo’s cloak blocks most of the quills, and he contemptuously plucks out the few that stuck in, ordering the Legion to “Kill these rejects!”
Superman turns in mid-air towards Color Kid, and his eyes glow red. Porcupine Pete knocks Color Kid out of the way, and the heat-beams miss, but Superman just keeps them on and is tracking them as they run across the floor, just ahead of the deadly beams. His face remains blank the whole time. Chlorophyll Kid throws a handful of seeds at the ground, but Lightning Lad destroys the carnivorous plant he creates almost instantly, not even turning around from menacing Cosmic Boy.
Cosmic Boy shouts out to Bouncing Boy, “We’re losing this!” just as Timber Wolf has herded Phantom Girl too close to Universo, and she too suddenly goes rigid, and turns towards her former friends.
Bouncing Boy, groggy from caroming around the room, shouts out, “Secret Weapon!”
Suddenly, from in front of Universo, a tiny green and purple figure sprouts up so fast that it’s barely visible, save as a blur, and it uppercuts him in the jaw. He flies back, his attacker nowhere in sight and each of the mind-controlled Legionnaires suddenly shakes their head and their eyes regain color for an instant. Saturn Girl in particular says, “No…” but Universo gets up again and their eyes go blank again, until a green and purple figure roundhouse kicks him in the back of the head, before shrinking back out of sight. Saturn Girl clearly breaks free at this point, while the others remain groggy, and she advances on Universo, hand extended, using her telepathy.
Universo gets to his feet, clutching his head, hand similarly extended towards Saturn Girl, “Foolish child, your feeble powers are no match for…” he doesn’t get to finish the sentence as the green and purple clad female again kicks him, this time in the stomach, doubling him over, before swinging both hands down onto the back of his head, knocking him down and out for the count. Violet doesn’t bother to shrink again, but remains full size as the team gathers. Lightning Lad apologizes to Cosmic Boy, who brushes it off, and Stone Boy apologizes to Brainy for removing his head, only to be told, “Don’t mention it. Ever.”
The Subs are chagrined and sheepish at having attacked their heroes, but Lightning Lad is the one to step up and say that they all used their powers impressively, and that they’ve come a long way, and that there’s no hard feelings, since, ‘most of us got controlled by Universo.’
Color Kid expresses disappointment that the red sun thing didn’t work the second time, and Brainy explains that red-tinted indoor lighting is not nearly as useful as red solar radiation…
[I think it would have made a cool episode, but I kinda lost steam when they went ahead and introduced Violet]

Set, as always I enjoyed your writing. You came up with such clever usage of the Sub's powers. I wish the show had been half as creative. Hope to read more of your stories or ideas for stories in the future.
