I've been obsessed with PowerGirl and Huntress today ... my only DC comic.
So I had three things in mind:
1) Retro costumes. takes on old Supergirl and Robin costumes.
2) I was going to say opposites of current Supergirl and Robin costumes but they really didnt give me much to play off of.
3) I wanted Huntress and Power Girl to have costumes that played off each other, they are all they have of their old world, and they are both brilliant so it makes sense they would swap tech and weapons.
.. so this version of Huntress didn't turn out as good as my initial sketch but, I wanted to get rid of all the white ... she relies on subterfuge it makes sense she wouldn't wear a big ass cross in white on her chest unless she is a weirdo vampire hunter or knight templar.
She's got a flack jacket type front shirt, not the sexiest but I wanted to get rid of a lot of the sexiness from these women's costumes ... their classic costumes are pretty striper ish.
But Huntress has lots of blades on her, like at her ankles ...people always shove knives in their boots right. and her bow is like a batarang. Also, I think she has been drawn way too butch in the current comic ... she is half Catwoman .. she should be more lithe.
and for Power Girl, I ditched the white, 'cause It dosnt work for me. and she's got a shirt that opens or closes ... shes invulnerable to the weather so who knows how warm she is from day to day. also I originally wanted to say ... "I've got legs too" but as the pen flew ... her breasts turned out big! haha.
The slashes on their arms and legs came from the "w" that often accompanied the tops of lots of heroes like Superman's boots. but I exaggerated it.
It may not seem like it but Power Girl started from Supergirl's 70s-80s long sleeves and hot pants outfit and Huntress started from Dick Grayson's classic Robin outfit.
