I like the lighter gray, and with a metallic shine more like in the touched-up picture. I always thought the Adventure stories mask was metal.

Too bad they never did a story, that I remember, with the Witch against the Eye!
That's a very good match up and I wonder who wins?!

Thanks guys.

I'm having a hard time finding free time to do any serious stuff, but I'm having a lot of fun playing with characters and scenes.

Wasn't there talk of a Legion video game during the first season of the cartoon? That would be cool.

I guess we could make our own, if we had to... wink

Thought I'd finally getting around to doing a Legion version of Ferro Lad's costume (to go with his pre-Legion clothing).

Testing a quick sequence for his transformation; figured I'd do a Sailor Moon-styled switch, but seeing it I'll probably go with something less "magical", probably a sequence of actually turning to iron.

The story background: while visiting Mars, he decides to stop in and see the Egyptian-styled tomb that has been mysteriously buried under the Martian sands for thousands of years and only recently unearthed. Of course, that's when the female mummy comes to life and summons her minions. Only Ferro Lad stands between them and the outer world...

Love the detail you've included, right down to the fabric-textured bandages on the mummies.

Thanks, I'd love to take credit for it, but a fair chunk of the renders are from models I've cobbled together from other sources (a sort of 3D kit-bashing). In this case, the odd little minions (complete with bandage texture) come like that. While I could build everything from scratch, the "Young Legion" and "The Rimbor Adventures" are just for fun, so I'm trying to see how long it would take to put together a Silver Age Legion package for doing quick-n-dirty comics and animation.

While I'm having a blast doing these, and I think some of the renders are fairly decent, I don't consider them as an artistic an achievement as the work you and most of the others are doing here. I'm still winding my way through the galleries, but they're chock full of stuff I couldn't do if my life depended on it. wink

Here's a quick test of a Ferro Lad transformation using two renders with simple merges:

I liked the visual effect of the first transformation, but I think this gradual merging is truer to the original image of Ferro Lad in the comics.

I agree; I think if it was going to animation, I'd go with the first, just for the visual impact for a younger audience, but for comic art I'll stick with the second.

Thanks.

I'm already having free timed taken for the holidays, but I'm trying to put together another character or two this weekend. Here's a first-draft of an animated Persuader (still have to build the Axe, this one's just a stand-in); any thoughts on head gear? There's been quite a few, so I decided to try two for starters, a mask, and a helmet (again, due to extreme laziness and time constraints, I'm grabbing models I already have and adapting them rather than building from scratch).

I definitely don't see the Persuader when I look at the skull mask, so the helmet is a much closer approximation.

Again, love seeing the Legion characters depicted this way, in action!

I like the helmet, too.
And the action is awesome.

Ya know, I've been thinking and I am persuaded that your first take on Dawnstar might be best.

I just wondered if it might be a doll program from the hips, but that doesn't mean it didn't look good on her or that you should change her.

You might even consider using the same pattern on Shady and Jeckie and a few of the others.
It's beautiful, really.

Go with YOUR instincts and preferences, not someone elses, unless you like their comment or suggestion.

I think you have true artistic abilities and instincts, Space Cadet!

I had to cross post this. Quite a while ago now, my son helped me make Legion characters in the Soul Caliber video game.

Thanks, it's appreciated.

I did like the second Dawnstar better, as the first, I felt, was a little "skimpy" for the audience I'm targetting, while the second (at your suggestion) was more in line with what I think the characters should be.

I appreciate all the comments and constructive criticism you all provide; often I'm trying to cut too many corners (again, ME=LAZY) and you all keep me honest. wink

I last saw him hanging out with Chuck, Lyle, Ayla, Jan, Brin, Condo and, if memory serves, Drake. wink

Thanks for the kind comment, it's appreciated.

M-E-L's on the list of ones I hope to do over the next month or so, but work and holiday-related social gatherings are seriously eating into my fun time.

I hope to add some Subs and a few more classic villains as well, with any luck I may be done by New Year's (which leaves 2010 for actual comic pages, unless I get side-tracked into some non-Legion endeavors).
