I wondered if they might have appeared during her repeating of the "test" on her home world in 5YL (LSH v4 #55) but no. Shown are two older Starhavenites whom she refers to as mother and father so presumably Mist Rider and Moonwalker, as well as Chief Morning Storm and two others, a young un-winged male (from appearances) named Rainmist who fails and another winged female (? could be either or neither) named Cloud Skimmer who succeeds. They are presumably other unrelated Starhavenites taking the "test" on the same day.

As for the family scene in WWitLSH #7 your memory is correct. Apart from two brothers (Tenzil's and Tinya's) and a single aunt (Reep's) all of the others are parents including Dawnstar's.

Is the information and description in WWitLSH #1 for Dawnstar the only place the two brothers are mentioned? The description mentions that when Dawnstar left Starhaven in her early teens, it meant that she never had the opportunity to know her two brand-new brothers, so presumably they are at least 10 years younger.

Y'all have been very helpful, thanks kindly!

I remember reading that they were younger but I didn't realise there was such an age difference! Looks like I'll have to supervillain up some other Legionnaire's brother instead laugh

Squire Burroughs is available, as he's practically there already thanks to our Dominator pals.

Yeah, I think that might be the only place they are mentioned. I think that's why I had it in my head they might have actually appeared in that series, because that's where they are "introduced".

LOL!

Absolutely! And not all of them have wings!

I always figured it was a "coming of age" thing, like the the familiars on "His Dark Materials" focusing on a specific animal.

No way!! How did I not know this? I always thought they were all winged and Dawny just happened to be super fast! This thread has been very enlightening!

Yeah, apparently it's a mutation that affects a significant number of the population, but not all. The extent of her tracking powers is what sets Dawny apart.

In terms of super power origins, things like mutations are a pretty easy explanation lol. up there with accidents and "got my powers from a magical object"

and in DC, the term / concept of mutant is different (i.e. does not carry as much baggage) as it does in the Marvel universe

Hi y'all. I have kind of lost touch with the Legion comics since the latest iteration. It drove me over the edge with something I couldn't ignore. But the news about a new Legion animation lit a glimmer of hope in me and brought me back here asking... Is the new Karate Kid... still... wearing a queue? Or is it that he's no longer half-Japanese half-American?

The latest version is the one where KK is wearing the queue. And he is still depicted as such based on some of the initial images from the JL v LSH upcoming mini.

I honestly can't remember if we've gone deep into his background yet in the new iteration.

...But at last, the Science Police trapped Validus in a cell of impenetrable Inertron, from which even he cannot escape!
Validus' cell has been transferred to the Galactic Prison in Bismari, where he awaits execution by a bombardment of ANTI-ENERGY, the only thing believed capable of destroying him!

o o o o o o

“...before I could escape, the rocket exhaust discharged a lethal blast of anti-matter energy.”
“I was completely engulfed! Death was certain!”
“Or so they thought! When the smoke cleared, I was still alive... but my body had been transformed into pulsating ANTI-ENERGY!”

o o o o o o

So... has Validus ever gone one-on-one against Wildfire?

Next time we have a DC/Marvel crossover, I want it to take place in the Hostessverse

I tried looking through Validus appearances and only found two where Wildfire fights Validus directly, neither of them in a main Legion series.

The second barely counts - LSH/Bugs Bunny Special from 2017 - in this crazy story Validus shows up at one point and lays into the Legion. Wildfire appears prominently in one panel firing one of his blasts directly at Validus but to no apparent effect. Naturally Bugs saves the day.

The only other one I could find is from Booster Gold v2 #43 2011. Booster turns up in the 30th Century seeking help from the Time Institute, arriving just as the entire Legion is fighting Validus in the streets of Metropolis. Wildfire is shown firing his blasts at Validus to little effect although it is hard to tell as everyone is attacking him. Then Cos co-ordinates a simultaneous attack by all the energy projecting legionnaires including Wildfire directed straight at Validus transparent head and this succeeds in stunning him and knocking him unconscious. So in that case Wildfire's blasts were effective but only along with lightning, heat and flash vision, solar rays etc.

I guess the Legion never got the memo from the SPs about the theory of Anti-Energy being effective against Validus, and maybe it had to be applied in a particular way? Or maybe the SPs were simply wrong. It is stated that they only believe Anti-Energy to be the one thing capable of destroying Validus.

It was implied that Garth was capable of destroying Validus--or at least that was what Ol-Vir believed was Darkseid's ultimate plan....

I'd put that down to Ol-Vir not being the most reliable source.

What happened to the Controller who impersonated the Time Trapper, after he was attacked and depowered at Takron Galtos during the Great Darkness Saga?
