So I was in NYC the last couple days to see David Gilmour.

It was an AMAZING concert.

Dude is 78 years old and still brings it. I hope I can be like that at that age.

Glad to hear that, GL.

I think a lot of us could use this song right now:

I was just glad to be away during the evil nonsense.

RIP Peter Sinfield, lyricist, roadie, lighting and sound operator, occassional VC3 player, and "pet hippie" for the original King Crimson.

This song has been in my head a lot lately:

The English-language adaptations of PFM albums are controversial, but I dig this one:

And this relatively unknown gem is largely his baby:

Here's another old favorite song that I hope helps get lots of Legion Worlders through these terrible times we're living in.

ABBA, Chiquitita

And just for good measure, here is an excellent cover of the same song, by a great talent who suffered too much in her too-short lifetime. Wherever she is now, I hope she's found the happiness she earned.

Sinead O'Connor, Chiquitita

It's well-known here at Legion World that Def Leppard is my favorite metal band, and that I think their best Post-Hysteria album is the 2005 all-covers album, "YEAH!"

Well, guess what? I found a video mix of the album on YouTube that includes all 8 of the bonus tracks scattered across various versions of the CD, for a grand total of 22 tracks. There are only 3 that I don't like, and then only because they have lead vocals by Phil instead of Joe: "Stay With Me," "Search and Destroy," and "Heartbeat." Otherwise, it's over an hour of musical goodness.

Enjoy!

When I was a teen, I imagined myself as a singing bass player in a prog band. Unfortunately, my lack of talent for either playing the bass or singing stood in the way of that. It feels like we've lost so many of my idols the last few years: Chris Squire, Greg Lake, John Wetton, Ray Shulman... and this week it was Jon Camp of Renaissance.

Here's one my favorites of theirs:

Happy birthday to Dave Stewart and Mont Campbell of Egg, both born on December 30th in 1950! Drummer Clive Brooks was the odd man out in the trio, having been born on December 28th the previous year!

RIP wizardly keyboardist and soulful sax player Garth Hudson. Now all five members of The Band are reunited in heaven, making beautiful music again.

Garth's signature live showcase, "The Genetic Method:"

The former which was always a prelude to "Chest Fever:"

And Garth's aforementioned saxophone skills are beautifully showcased on this gem of a deep cut from The Band's all-covers album "Moondog Matinee." Here we have Fats Domino's "I'm Ready," with a swaggering lead vocal by Levon Helm:

As it happens, I consider "Moondog Matinee" to be their second-best album, so here's Garth again, working his magic on "The Third Man Theme:"

Finally, I might as well post the entirety of my favorite Band album, "Music From Big Pink." This is the 50th Anniversary remix, which I consider the very best digital version:

Rest in peace, Garth.

RIP to the great Jamie Muir, wildman percussionist. His tenure in King Crimson was way too brief but was vital to one of their best albums.
