I adore Chuck Taine, both the Preboot version with powers and the Postboot version without powers!

Chuck stars in some stand out Adventure stories.

Chuck was created by Jerry Siegel. So was Tenzil.

Mirror Master's Scottish version really had to be written by someone who can decipher it, which was Morrison.

Mirror Master's Scottish version really had to be written by someone who can decipher it, which was Morrison. Agreed. But I still like McCulloch better than Scudder, who had no personality at all. I didn't shed a single tear when Scudder was killed in CoIE. And I was relieved that Johns' plans to bring Scudder back to life were terminated.

I definitely like some legacies better than others There are legacies with tremendous potential that is never quite there in the execution, because of bad editors and bad writing. Hawkgirl Kendra, for instance.

She definitely had a good hook.
Then they killed her in Blackest Night... brought Shayera back, but Kendra was left in the cold...

Blackest Night was what finally got me to stop denying what an awful writer Johns is.

The premise was interesting. Such a shame that a lot of characters were butchered. And the resurrections didn't quite make up for it.
that was a dark period overall, no pun intended. Identity Crisis was so bleak. What happened to Ralph and Sue... and the gratuitous death of Ronnie Raymond Firestorm...

In hindsight, it was a terrible time, but I convinced myself for a few years that I was having fun. Maybe because my gateway to that era was the final issue of Green Lantern Rebirth, rather than Identity Crisis.

Much of the bad has been retconned away, at least!

Much of the bad has been retconned away, at least! Yes. I think the current EiC, Marie Javins, has done a pretty good job of turning the company around. (Now if only she'd greenlight a new Legion series.)
