Welcome to......

Kill This Thread LXII

The following rules were established by Kent Shakespeare at the start of the first 24-hour version, adapted from the original rules by EDE:

The rules:

1. The Basic Idea: Post to this thread, if no one posts after you for 24 hours, you win!

2. Posts that are not direct responses to one of the five preceding posts are ineligible to win. The topic can drift, but no complete non-sequitors. Posts that are responses to non-sequitors are also ineligible to win. Posts that are responses to responses to non-sequitors, and response nses to those posts, etc., become eligible, however.

3. In the event that this thread is locked, there shall be no winner unless a new thread is started for the contest. Furthermore, any post that results in the banning of the poster shall also be ineligible to win.

4. So, more precisely, one wins if one makes a post, and then no one makes another post that's eligible to win for 24 hours.

Mix blue and white paints, and you get some very pretty shades of light blue.

I agree with you on sky blue and periwinkle.

Also celestial blue.

Add a bit of green, and you have turquoise and aquamarine.

Awwww, thanks, Ibby. I know she's one of your favorites.

I, too, love Zoe, although I would be remiss if I didn't admit that part of the reason I chose her is because she's the closest thing here to Marvel's Phoenix.

There's a very funny song from the 70s called "Shoes," about a wedding night where the groom is obviously a raging closet case.

Johnny Marr loves that song. Hmmm...I've long suspected him to be a closet case...hmmm...he could've done the world a lot of good if he'd come out at the height of his fame...but he didn't!

An exciting time, to be sure!

It was also right around then that Warner Brothers released a lot of its Pre-1948 Golden Age Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies on home video for the first time.

And then, of course, there's the old saying, "The Golden Age of comics is when you were 12 years old."

That doesn't quite apply to me, though.

I've had two Golden Ages. The first was from when I was 7 through 9, and I could look forward every week to a new issue of Don Miki, a 100-page digest (later 80 pages) which reprinted Italian Disney stories (translated into Spanish, of course.) Compared to the usual Disney comics with stories from America, Denmark, Holland, and Brazil (and the occasional Italian one,) this was a world of difference in every way! The second was from ages 18 to 20, when I first got into superheroes. That was the much-reviled early 90s, but I'll go to my grave defending the superhero comics from those years.

My daughter has moved back in with us before her wedding in a couple of months, and a lot of her stuff is sitting in boxes in front of my cupboard full of old comics, so rereading old comics is not an option for a little while.
(Not that I mind. Glad to have her home and help with her preparations.)

Have fussy household chores turned you into a real Mad Harriet?
Well, that's all over with your very first Omega Sanction.
Just one crimson beamed emission will end all those chores for good. And those in the rest of your town too.

"Mad, Bad, and Dangerous to Know" was Dead or Alive's disappointing follow-up to their breakthrough album, "Youthquake," but it still had its moments. Here's one of those moments, "Hooked on Love:"
