This Legion reject has turned up several times as a torn in the Legionnaires side. From her membership in the Legion of Super-Villains to Earth Man’s Justice League of Earth. Sussa Paka is a bad hair day for our heroes in the 30th century since her first appearance in Adventure Comics #310. No split ends for this prehensile hair. But to further to confuse the readers, she was a Legionnaire in Workforce. UGH! What a tangled mess! Jo really knows how to pick them. And she predates the Inhuman Medusa by two years.

Sorry to have to be a downer, but my niece’s husband was murdered last week. Things are really a mess with the family right now. Times have been tough with all the issues with both my parents passings and now this.

Tim was a really great guy who would help anyone in need. A gentle soul. People always thought differently at first with his body builder physique and tattoos. But once they got to know him he could win them over with his genuine smiles and laughter.

So with my last batch of commissioned sketch cards from Cal Slayton he included a sketch of Wildfire on the outside back of the envelope.

Well a very excited and much appreciated thank you for my gift commission of Cosmic Boy vs Lightning Lord and Validus sketch cover by Dave Beaty

The concept behind this one was if the Earth’s magnetic field can prevent the passage of many particles of cosmic or gamma radiation, could Cosmic Boy tap the Earth’s magnetic field and deflect lightning blasts? Much like a magic user can tap a ley line for a power boost, maybe Rokk can do the same from the Earth’s magnetic core. Gamma and cosmic rays travel at highly charged and incredible speeds through the cosmos and some, but not all, are defected by the Earth’s magnetic field. The magnetic field can also deflect the solar wind from our Sun preventing our atmosphere from being stripping away. But lightning can be hotter than the surface of the Sun. The energy from a lightning burst is super-heated and destructive.

So two electrical types…I choose you COSMIC BOY! Can he fit in a Poké Ball?

This year’s seasonal commission of mine is from Greg Fox again. He and I wish everyone who celebrates it a very Happy Kwanzaa! To help with this, here is Tyroc holding a kinara to light the seven days, each candle represents one of the seven principles.

The seven principles of Kwanzaa are:

Umoja
Unity, or striving for unity in the family, community, nation, and race

Kujichagulia
Self-determination, or defining, naming, creating, and speaking for oneself

Ujima
Collective work and responsibility, or building and maintaining the community together and solving problems together

Ujamaa
Cooperative economics, or building and maintaining businesses together and profiting from them together

Nia
Purpose, or making the community the collective vocation and restoring the people to their traditional greatness

Kuumba
Creativity, or exploring and expressing unique talents and gifts to leave the community more beautiful and beneficial

Imani
Faith, or maintaining faith in shared values and the possibility of a brighter future

Kwanzaa begins on December 26th this year and goes for seven days to end on January 1st.
