Welcome to......
Kill This Thread LIX
The following rules were established by Kent Shakespeare at the start of the first 24-hour version, adapted from the original rules by EDE:
The rules:
1. The Basic Idea: Post to this thread, if no one posts after you for 24 hours, you win!
2. Posts that are not direct responses to one of the five preceding posts are ineligible to win. The topic can drift, but no complete non-sequitors. Posts that are responses to non-sequitors are also ineligible to win. Posts that are responses to responses to non-sequitors, and response nses to those posts, etc., become eligible, however.
3. In the event that this thread is locked, there shall be no winner unless a new thread is started for the contest. Furthermore, any post that results in the banning of the poster shall also be ineligible to win.
4. So, more precisely, one wins if one makes a post, and then no one makes another post that's eligible to win for 24 hours.
Here's a history of our various felons, along with a few missed opportunities.....

The more I thought about it, the more I had a problem with Johns in this regard. Given the pedigree of Courtney/Stargirl, how would he feel if someone did that character like he did Kinetix, and others?
Maybe someone should.
(But they won't)

I've definitely had the thought before, but as tempting as it might be to spitefully kill off Johns's own favorite characters in the same sort of brutal fashion as some of his victims, it's better not to stoop to his level.

I hate to say it, but I'm really close to the IDGAF spot in my life, and if I were ever to get a chance to own/operate DC, its probably the first thing I would do. He's pretty loaded at this point. He can cry all the way to the bank.
No. Second. Bringing the Legion back would be the first thing.
The HOW of it is something that could be done with tact.

I agree with EDE that it's better not to stoop to Johns' level, but I can also see where GL is coming from. The temptation and frustration can be overwhelming, and I'm speaking from personal experience. I still flare up sometimes.

The more I think of it, the more it bothers me. It seems like a big status signaling move, and much more "in your face" than anything that Waid ever did as someone who came up the ranks from the fan community.
Most likely, we'll never hear from Stargirl again unless Johns happens to come back to DC.

Most likely, we'll never hear from Stargirl again unless Johns happens to come back to DC. Down on his knees, dressed in rags, sporting the world's worst B.O. "Please let me work for you again. I'll even sweep the floors. PLEEEASE!" Ahh, schadenfreude

I wish I could say that I'm above that, but I'm not. LOL. Especially after this last month.
And to be clear, I don't have anything against the Stargirl character - I enjoyed the mini that they did a year or two back.
My issue is Johns mauling characters he deemed irrelevant while pushing his own character that had editorial protection while he was around (and still may, if he has a good relationship with Jim Lee).

Let's not forget James Robinson killing Crimson Fox, Blue Devil, and Amazing Man -- AT THE INVITATION OF THE JUSTICE LEAGUE FRANCHISE'S THEN EDITOR. This jerk, one Ruben Diaz, allegedly said to Robinson, "Pick any members you want, they're all so lame." ASSHOLE!

Seriously, in olden times these heroes would just be knocked out... having a villain out and out slaughter them is so cheap. pick better ways to shiw how scary a villain is....

pick better ways to shiw how scary a villain is.... I do realize you mistyped "show," but it still made me chuckle, because Ed Sullivan always pronounced "show" as "shiw."

Or the TNG version with the totally jacked Picard! I read the first couple issues of that and was really enjoying it, until it became obvious that Riker -- my least favorite TNG character -- was gonna save the day. Now I'm curious -- is that the way it went?

Wow - that's a good question.
I'd be cheating to say the Capital Jazz fest, as its LOTS of acts, but its probably some of the coolest music ever from artists I became big fans of.
Full on arena experience would have to be the Pink Floyd Division Bell tour in '94-95 due to the multimedia aspect of how they put on a show back then.
But I think at the end of the day, I'd have to say Prince when he came to Baltimore on his last tour on Mother's Day of 2015.

I mean, I have to think about it - We went last month to NYC to see Gilmour's solo tour and it was kind of amazing given the man is 78. Especially when he's singing about getting old... And all these precious things you gave Falling through my hands These worlds, this scattered sand I stand in a river Push against the stream Time is a tide that disobeys And it disobeys me It never ends Scattered

My boss accidentally used permanent marker to write on the whiteboard I do this on purpose. But usually at work, we have crummy/really old markers, so they barely work at all, so a lot of times people reach for whatever works which sometimes are - oops! - permanent markers!

I'll bet the permanent markers make quite a strong impression.

It does, especially when you go to erase! LOL That said, its actually pretty easy to do - there are usually cleaning solutions available in the rooms for just these situations

"Joe" is a common nickname for Americans (or even white people in general) in the Philippines.

In one of the wartime Looney Tunes-Merrie Melodies cartoons, Daffy Duck sasses a sailor cat who's just trying to get the deck swabbed:
"Very sloppy, Roscoe, very sloppy. You're a slovenly housekeeper."

I think maybe the last two posts were meant to be in the Legion Trivia thread? Ebb was called a sloven in Legionnaires 71. When I read this my first thought was what the heck alternate Legion was the Legionnaires 71 - oh duh you mean the comic issue!

That reminds me, we haven't seen Thriftshop Debutante for quite a while. Ah, well, she always stops by Legion World whenever we least expect her to. And Cramey is posting semi-regularly again, which is a delight.

That would be lovely. Ideally, a mix of Legionnaires from different 'Boots, including some who had limited chance to shine (Infectious Lass, Nightwind, Kinetix as examples), and treated with respect

in my fic, I gave Lamprey water powers (a la Mera) to differentiate her. I really enjoy writing her!

I could tell just from reading your stories that you enjoy writing her.
I've only written Lamprey & Nightwind once, in a one-chapter Bits story I titled "Witches Brew," but I had a great time working on that story.

Thanks for the compliment, Ibby.
I thought Nightwind looked great and kicked ass in the Gail Simone/Dan Jurgens arc. If I were to try to continue PZH continuity where that arc left off, I'd definitely have Nightwind graduate quickly from cadet to team member.

I agree re Nightwind in the Simone arc. In my fic, I had her become leader of the Legion that reformed when the main team disappeared… she seemed to have the chops to do the job! And you’re welcome, Fanfie
