Not an elemental type of character.

Nice aqua pun with flounder
Not Aquaman. But you're on the right track with character popularity. Just higher up than the water.

Neither Flash nor Green Arrow. Something in Green Arrow's equipment is a link to the answer. Also, there's that similarity to Man Bat and that the answer operates higher up than Aquaman.

Hawkman? Has wings like Man-Bat and air is above water. Not sure about the Green Arrow connection.

Feathers on the arrows Hawkman was to guest star in an issue of Swamp Thing. But it was to then become a regular team up. Swamp Thing was cancelled before that could happen. Over to you Boy Kid Lad!

Definitely an unexpected duo. I wonder why Hawkman was picked.
Canonically, who is the second person to use the Captain America name?

Is it a tricksy question, and the answer is Steve Rogers? I seem to recall a series, where there was some sort of super soldier test project.

Not a trick. There were other prior super soldiers, but Steve was the first Captain America.

Not John Walker. This was via a retcon to clear up misaligned continuity.

I remember that Captain America annual that focused on the Captains appearing between Steve's disappearance and reappearance, but they were all later than Isaiah? I can't remember any of their names anyway. I'm stumped.

William Naslund, a.k.a. the Spirit of '76?

William Naslund, a.k.a. the Spirit of '76? Chaim’s got it! In Avengers #4, Steve Rogers is pulled from the ice, having been there since the end of WW2. However, Marvel’s predecessor Atlas Comics had published Captain America adventures throughout the 50s. To reconcile this, a story taking place in regular continuity appeared in What If #4, contrary to the premise of the What If series. In the story, after Steve Rogers disappears into the ice, the government appoints William Naslund, the hero Spirit of ‘76, to be the new Captain America. Naslund is killed on his first outing as Captain America and is then replaced by Jeffery Mace, the Patriot. It is this Captain America that is said to appear in those 50s adventures.

I loved those Roy Thomas continuity inserts. But lord, the artwork on that particular issue was horrendous, I can't believe someone got paid to throw that on paper.
Why is the Vision's skin colored red?

Does it have anything to do with his body being that of the original android human torch who had a red costume and/or was completely red when covered in fire?

It was added as part of a disguise so the Vision wouldn't be recognised as the Human Torch? The skin was part of a circulatory system that turned white when remove.

BKL has it - Ultron made him have red skin as a reminder that his body had been the Torch's, who was red when aflame.

I read Byrne's WCA a while back, and remembered the red skin being separate. But then Byrne spent a lot of time revising the Vision in that run.
