Not Hawkman.
One time Superman teamed up with another hero to defend Earth from an approaching space seed, but the seed gives them both amnesia and they both deduce separately that they are the other hero. Which hero did Superman believe himself to be?
Not: Green Lantern, Captain Marvel, Hawkman

Thoth has it with Flash! Superman spotted an interstellar space seed approaching the Earth and summoned the Justice League but only Flash was available. After swapping uniforms so Flash would be more protected in Superman's indestructible costume, they went into space to "negotiate" with the seed, but it blasted them back to Earth and gave them amnesia in the process. Being in the opposite super-hero outfits they each decided they were that hero with "Superman" wondering what happened to the rest of his powers and "Flash" not knowing why he couldn't vibrate through walls. Eventually they bumped into each other and, after a brief tussle, sorted the whole thing out. They solved the original problem by Flash using superspeed to fuse an area of Earth really really hard and Superman pounded his body into it again and again, slowing the Earth in its orbit just enough so that the speeding seed (which would have sprouted and taken over the planet) shot past and into the sun. Hopefully afterwards they did the same on the opposite side of the planet to get Earth back to its original orbit or our clocks and calendars have been wrong ever since. It was a Bonze Age story but like so many Silver Age the plot was created to setup the bit the writers really wanted, mixing up the two heroes. The cover from Superman #220 says it all. https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Superman_Vol_1_220Your turn Thoth.

I was picturing it as a DC presents story.
At the end of it's original series, Swamp Thing was going to become a team up book with which character?

That's an excellent guess. Fitting with the timing and more suitable than the answer. At least 1 similarity to the actual answer. This was before there was a Constantine
