Maybe Terra can send them both packing. Sure, she's dead but that never stopped a comic book character before.
BTW - There was recent Terra Man appearance in Superman #10 (the Joshua Williamson book) involving some time-travel shenanigans. His look and implied origin were fairly faithful to the Bronze Age original, too.
I enjoyed the Terra-Man stories in Superman black-and-white reprints in the 60s/70s when I was a boy. Always an interesting character. Part of his charm seemed to be that we never really knew his origin. It was nice to see them try to bring him back in the 80s but the character was too different to really work. The recent appearance though matched up really well with the earlier version and was fun to read!
My main encounter with Terra Man as a kid was in the Superman Mix and Match book, but his presence there solidified the idea of him as a major Superman villain in mu mind!
Even thiough the protrayal had little connection with the original, I dug his appearance as a Legion villain in the cartoon!
When I first saw the cover at a tiny size, I assumed it was drawn by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez. Then I enlarged it, and saw it was actually drawn by Ross Andru, whom JLGL considers an inspiration. So it all adds up.
Here's an interior page. Apparently you can generate 200,000 different stories by flipping the panels and mixing and matching elements of the other stories.
