...and everybody except for a few thousand people in Britain and Ireland gives a collective shrug. (And has anyone seen recent photos of Noel and Liam?? They're aging even more horribly than I thought they would.) (Also, I must confess: a long, long time ago I kinda sorta had a crush on Noel.)

Oasis: The Alimony Tour
I've never particularly liked them. There are still a couple of folk round here that walk with a mid-90s Madchester Gallagher swagger. They will be thrilled.
Still, it will be nice to end a couple of decades of "Our kid knows what he did. I'm over it, and show that by droning on about it in every interview."
"...not having to believe in a thing to be interested in it and not having to explain a thing to appreciate the wonder of it."

I have to admit finding some of their music annoyingly catchy, despite wanting to dislike it, but, man, the Gallagher bros always just seemed like compete jerks.

Now imagine hordes of people trying to be like them. That was a load of folks in mid 90s UK. To their credit, they grew up in a peer group of endless put downs and one upmanship. So, they were sharp edged when it came to dealing with the inanities of music hacks and the record industry. I didn't catch many of their interviews. But I do remember a well known and liked presenter/comedian trying to get one past Noel. Only for an instant reply to leave him well beaten.

When one band gets together, speculation increases about others. But not, it seems, for The Smith's anytime soon. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp352111wyxo

I'm not surprised at all. They've both aged into a couple of wankers. That picture of Marr with Chrissie Hynde made me laugh, though. She only shares the stage with someone who's gotten even uglier than her! "Look at those faces, they're so old It's really laughable AH HA HA HA HA HA HA" (I couldn't resist the temptation)

And as long as I'm venting against Marr, why the hell does he wear those awful wigs? He's never had a good hair day in his whole bloody life!

I'm not sure how many memes I've seen on FB of the format:
Reunion we're getting: [picture of Gallagher Brosl
Reunion we actually wanted: [picture of pretty much any other band that hasn't played together in awhile]

I personally don't want ANY reunions that haven't already happened. I'd sooner go see a tribute band, with a singer who can actually hit the high notes!

Yeah, I'm not thinking of many that *could* reunite that would get me all that excited at this point.

If I get nothing else from this thread, it's this useful reminder to go listen to Brass in Pocket again. The Pretenders were actually not pretending, they could rock! Oasis, you say? Nah, I'll just bake out here in the desert. It's probably another mirage, anyway.

Yeah, much as I despise Chrissie Hynde as a human being, I don't deny that she is the very definition of rock n roll, in all its awesomeness and repulsiveness at the same time!
