Coipel has not, to my knowledge, done anything like the side boob in his other work. And I doubt he came up with the overalls and trucker hat without a substantial directive from DnA.
FTR, Andy Lanning was the inker, and a good one, too. For several years, he was Phil Jimenez's go-to inker.

Perhaps it depends. I recall an interview from George Perez, where he distinctly says that he (has told) some of his writers not to be too detailed with their descriptions... as the artist fills in a lot of the details. https://www.tcj.com/the-george-perez-interview/Most of the writers, thank goodness, give me the option of what I will leave in and what I will take out and how I will pace the story. They give me a lot of leeway there.
He gives me very, very loose plots, depending on how much of a physical or cerebral story it is; the plots vary. But usually, he gives me a fairly loose plot and I will draw it without putting a single liner note on the book, which is very unusual.

Given that LL was very early on in Coipel's career, I imagine that he had direction as to what to draw.
I actually *really* disliked Lanning's inks with Coipel. The were MUCH too heavy for my tastes, but that's all subjective and I totally see where people would like it.

What's your opinion of Lanning's inks over Jimenez's pencils, GL?

I'm not sure if I've seen them. Which books were they working on together?

Wonder Woman was one of them, circa 2000-2002.
Also that non-DCU miniseries that Jimenez created but never finished, because they pulled him off it to draw some crappy superhero event.

Wonder Woman is cool. If she were real, I'd totally be a big fan of hers.

eh, I was gonna say you both know what I mean, but ... and I hope this didn't come off as snippy. Work has been tough lately, with a lot of politicking and nitpicking, and I'm not in the best of mental states at the moment. Just a bit tired of having to explain myself at work over and over. though I also want to clarify, that I did not feel misunderstood or nitpicked by both of you, GL and Annfie. hence my long-ish explanation and disclaimer

Oh it totally did not, no worries there! . If anything mine may have been a bit too glib. But no harm no foul from where I sit. EDIT - I did go back and find a WW issue of Lanning inking Jimenez. Definitely good work, but I do think he tends to be a bit on the bold side for inking, even for "normal" pencilers.

Ibby, no worries.
GL, fair enough about Lanning's inks, but now I'm curious, which inkers have styles that are more to your liking?

GL, fair enough about Lanning's inks, but now I'm curious, which inkers have styles that are more to your liking? Of the more recent stuff, I've been impressed by Mark Morales over on Avengers. Historically, Klaus Jansen is really good. They both have inks that don't get in the way of the color. Take TDKR for Jansen - its a dark book, but more because of the colors versus the inks.

Interesting. Klaus Janson is one of those inkers whose early work I actually like better, before they developed their signature style. I'll concede that it works on certain pencilers, but my favorite work of his is a very smooth job he did for Marvel way back in 1976-77: What If v1 issue 3, "What If the Avengers Had Never Been?" Gil Kane did the plot and pencils, and Jim Shooter did the dialogue. I think it's one of the single best done-in-one superhero comics ever published!

The Greater Good as seen in Hot Fuzz.

I've never seen Hot Fuzz, but that lot make me think of an Obi Wan Kenobi lookalike contest.
