Every character is someone's favorite. Every story is important and essential to someone. Allowing for multiple versions co-existing is the best way to keep everything in. You can explore the Ayla-Vi relationship. You can explore a version in which Ayla is still dating Timber Wolf, because that relationship is important to some people. You can follow up on a version in which Brin and evil Projectra are together. You can have a version in which Brin and Blok are together. Not everyone has to enjoy every version. That's cool. There's something like 100 characters who have been Legionnaires at this point. You can't have everyone be a member in every version, but as long as there's at least some stories published in which some version of the character appears it shouldn't matter.
There's definitely such a thing as being too concerned about minor continuity errors. "In the latest issue, the Legion lands on the third moon of Colu! But in this issue published in 1973 it says that Colu has no moons! You've ruined the Legion!" is being excessive. But if you're going to write a story in which Ferro Lad and Tellus go to a bar, then you owe us an explanation of how these characters are co-existing. That explanation can be as simple as "This is a reality in which Ferro Lad never died!". But if you're going to insist that it's a story of the preboot Legion, you're going to need to at least gesture at the fact that Ferro Lad's has returned to life or one of the characters is time traveling or is a clone or something.

Agree, that's a pretty big continuity gap to fill. I think most readers with deep knowledge will automatically assume it's an alternate continuity. so I agree, that if it's meant to be set in the same reality, the writer/editor should firmly establish that. Its the characters that are the most important thing to keep. agree - and at least a recognizable version. *angrily remembers the Shrinking Violet in Bendisboot, who didn't get a single line...*

I generally agree here. It's more important to have the character in play. I could care less *WHY* Jenni Ognats is in an issue. If they at some point make reference to her having an alternate origin or shifting realities, that's fine, but I wouldn't freak out if she didn't have her side belt pouches. A lot of 5YL takes the continuity stuff way too seriously and cause a lot more problems than it solved, IMO. But its not insurmountable. In some cases (Ferro Lad) it could be some time anomaly that kicks off a new series, but in others (XS, Kinetix) they could just be Academy recruits. As much as I'd love to see the Violet/Kinteix friendship back on display, its more important to have Kinetix just on the page.

Basically, all of the pages featuring the Legion have already been posted on this thread, but here's a basic summary of the issue: --We start with the Subs scene already posted. --We move to the JSA trying to recruit Gentleman Ghost as part of the Huntress's "villain reform" program. --Like every other villain they've tried to recruit, GG fights. --During the fight, Icicle freezes and breaks a crystal ball that turns out to contain Surtur. Everyone complains about Icicle being irresponsible though you'd think someone would've warned him about GG possessing such a crystal ball before the fight. --The JSA spend the amount of time fighting Surtur that it takes Power Girl to explain who he is and why he's such a big deal. --Mordru kills Hawkman, uses his life essence to bring GG back to life, which severs the connection of Surtur to this plane of existence. --Hawkman immediately regenerates from being dead, because that's apparently how his immortality works now? I haven't been keeping up. --The JSA return to HQ to vote on whether to accept Mordru as a member. Hawkman storms off after declaring his vote a "no". We're not really shown the debate, but apparently at least Yolanda also votes "no" because Mordru teamed up with Eclipso one time. --Mordru sulks because he's afraid they won't accept him and help him not become a villain. --The JSA accepts Mordru! The Legion shows up and demands Mordru be handed over to them so that reality won't be ended!

Sounds awful! Thanks for reading it so others don't have to, EDE.
Still "Fickles" to my friends.

Sounds awful! Thanks for reading it so others don't have to, EDE. Adding onto this: We still don't know what, exactly, the Legion is trying to prevent regarding Mordru's acceptance in the JSA. The Subs never once actually mention Mordru when talking about what the JSA is doing, and for that matter Khalid isn't with them despite the mention of him being with Polar Boy and Night Girl.
And there's the fact we still have no idea how Mordru got his flight ring or who he was talking to in the 8th issue.

My initial guess would be: Reforming young Mordru creates a time paradox similar to the one that wipes out the Huntress's future, thus bringing the whole series full circle.
However, the scene in #8 really suggests Mordru has some sort of ulterior motive or another agenda.
And you'd think the JSA would do some more background checks and want to to know why he has a flight ring, etc.

I'd love to just have Kinetix on the page as well. perhaps there are fans out there, who think the Vi/Zoe friendship was such a core element of their characters, that they are not willing to budge on that it will also be a very personal thing for various fans.

Definitely. But on the other hand it provides an avenue for new stories or threads. To keep with the Vinetix example, bringing Zoe in at 15/16 years old (or even older) can have older Vi (early to mid 20s) be a mentor to her and kind of flip the PZH relationship on its head. And this can be done in LOTS of different ways with lots of characters.

for sure personally, I just want Zoe to have her look, her alpha-class telekinesis, her sassy but caring personality, and a friendship with Vi.
