A friend of mine hates Rihanna's "We Found Love" because the chorus is basically the same line repeated over and over

I've still got that Brix Smith book to read.

She's led a fascinating life. The book opens with her grandmother driving little Brix to Disneyland, only to lose control and crash at the entrance to the Magic Kingdom!

The opening was Brix before The Fall.

Yes, but what I was trying to say is that her life before the Fall was just as weird and wild as what came later.

14 years ago, I stupidly hurt my left arm. It's never moved 100 percent normally again, but, ironically, I draw much better now!

A very unexpected pro, that's for sure!

Something similar happened to Golden Age animator Bob McKimson (creator of Foghorn Leghorn,) who suffered a head injury in a car crash -- after he recovered, he found he could draw much better than before!

Foghorn Leghorn was based on the character of Senator Beauregard Cleghorn, originated by Kenny Delmar as part of the Allen's Alley segment of Fred Allen's radio show, and also featured in his own movie, That's a Joke, Son!. Unfortunately, once Foghorn Leghorn became popular and Warner Bros. held the copyrights/trademarks, Delmar actually had get their permission to play the Cleghorn character in later years.

Ah, showbiz...where dreams come true, but always at a price. shake

Walt Kelly's comic strip Pogo had a loudmouthed politician bear named P.T. Bridgeport.

the song "Desperate Measures" from Marianas Trench alludes to some of the sacrifices needed in showbiz

I wish that were true in the States for any song by Sheryl Crow.

As long as it's not for songs about Sheryl Crow. Though the only version of I can find on YouTube is this surprisingly good cover:

I'm glad somebody else dislikes her as much as I do.

Who wrote that song, EDE?

It's by Kevin Gilbert, her ex-boyfriend who invited her to be a part of the Tuesday Night Music Club, a group of songwriters/musicians in L.A. Since she was the one with a recording contract, they pretty much dropped everything to work on her first album, and when it was successful, she pretty much treated all of them pretty badly, from what I understand.

Gilbert died tragically in 1996, apparently due to an accident while attempting autoerotic asphyxiation, though it may have been suicide. He was found by his manager, who was there to tell him that he had an audition with his favorite band, Genesis. His albums Thud and the posthumous The Shaming of the True are absolute classics, in my book.

Wow. So typically Hollywood. Poor guy. shake

The producer of that big multiplatinum Sheryl Crow/Tuesday Night album, Bill Bottrell, went on to work with Shelby Lynne on her breakthrough album, "I Am Shelby Lynne." Now HER, I absolutely LOVE!

Yeah, Bill Bottrell's done some good stuff.

I always forget about it, but I guess the thing Kevin Gilbert might be best known for is this song by his short-lived band Toy Matinee. Apparently, it got some airplay/MTV-play back in 1990, but I honestly have no memory of hearing it at the time.
