For me, its the Oversized edition of the Legion with the wedding of LL and SG.

I had it a long time ago and read it til it fell apart. Been looking for it ever since. first thing I do is go through my LCS. I found the Special Edition, the other legion Oversized at my LCS. I literally mentioned it and they just so happened to have gotten it like the week before.

I miss having this issue.

What's yours?

Showcase Presents Legion of Super-Heroes Volume 4.

I used to own it, but I got rid of it after I found Volume 10 of the Legion Archives, the All-Dave Cockrum one. At the time I couldn't appreciate that the Post-Curt Swan stories were actually rather good, because I hated Win Mortimer's artwork so much.

Ooooh. that's a good one. Somehow, I think I've managed to find all the stuff from Superboy and from 196/97 up to the earthwar saga. I'm still filling the old adventure era stuff in comic form, not the collections. And I think there were some Action backups as well, I'm not sure. I spend more time haunting the back issue bins than in the new section now anyway.

Thanks, Rick.

And congratulations on putting together a complete set of the best of the Legion's Superboy era.

Reminds me of when I was doing the same with back issues of the Postboot era, a few years ago. The thrill of the treasure hunt!

The Action backups you mentioned, those make up a large portion of the era that I dismissed too easily, partly because of the art and partly because they lacked grandeur.

The action stuff, was that the Tuska stuff?

No, Tuska was the first few Superboy backups, right before Cockrum took over. Action was Mortimer, usually inked by Abel -- better than Mortimer inking himself, but still not the kind of artwork the Legion deserves.

Cool, Ann. I have to admit that between adventure and Supes and the Legion, I'm light on the Legion Lore.

I've also been working on some oddballs for me. Secret Society of Super-Villains from the 70's. The run that starred Captain Comet. Phantom Stranger, but that's much less a work in progress due to scarcity. And the 70's Freedom Fighters.

I know there's some strange bronze age stuff out there, but for my part the SSSV and FF are two awesomely strange and weird books. Things just are then suddenly, atlantis rises to fight flying dragons with antique martian blasters from earth zh9.

Shit be fonky.

The last half-dozen or so Adventure issues (Tornado Twins, Taurus Gang, Wanderers, Cham in King Arthur's Court) were penciled and inked by Mortimer -- in my opinion, he made the Legionnaires look like characters from Family Circus. It was a sharp decline from the artistic standards set by Swan, although no one else at Legion World seems to dislike it as much as I do. shrug

Stile, those books will give you glorious whiplash.

Ann, everyone has their favorites. I mean, as much as I loved what Cockrum did with Legion, I prefer Grell's art. Nothing wrong with that. Everyone likes what they like.

Rick, that's the truth. I myself favor Cockrum over Grell. Not to mention Lightle over Giffen. And it's all good. My opinion is equal to everyone else's.

As Kid Chaos once said to me, during my head-up-my-posterior years, after I'd gone on one of my anti-Giffen rants, "Think how boring life would be if we all liked the exact same things."

I miss Kid Chaos. Not just a nice guy, but also as big a LEGION-dot fan as me. Wherever he is now, I wish him the best.

I used to have quite a big amount of silver age Flash, but those books disintegrated over the years. Been slowly filling it back out, but it's spotty. Unlike my GL/GA collection.

Silver Age Flash is good stuff. I like the way Carmine Infantino's backgrounds would often shift from detailed and realistic into something abstract and minimal.

I've picked up the first few Silver Age Flash omnibuses in comixology sales. Great value for a few quid.
