Weird to include the 60s/70s Fatal Five line-up, who weren't really around either immediately before or after Zero Hour...

Here's the cover in question. But isn't that supposed to be Green Dragon (jo Nah) and Cosmic Boy (and maybe Saturn Girl) along with what appears to be the Rebirth Lightning Lad on the Alan Quah cover?

And that appears to be SW6 Saturn Girl with the ponytail, vaguely defined but still obvious, behind Steel and Green Dragon. Plot Twist: The Bendisboot Saturn Girl is also here, on the left-most part of the picture behind Batgirl. Maybe the two Saturn Girls used their telepathy to convince everyone that Hal Jordan's hair was never grey.

This isn't the first time the current Legion has been used accidentally in place of the classic team for covers and other art recently, is it? Wasn't the Bendisboot Lightning Lad on a Blue Beetle cover alongside members of the classic Legion?

It actually makes me depressed about the Legion's viability as a property. A lot of the creatives at DC now seem to have no idea who the Legion is, and when they do use them they can't tell the reboots apart and just use the first image they find off Google. They didn't grow up with a Legion. Didn't read a Legion. No guest appearances or cameos in other books. No connection to other properties anymore. It's an obscure property now, even to the creatives.

At least the Fatal Five get some cover time.

There's a mix of costumes from more recent years on that second cover - current Donna Troy, Wally West, Nightwing & Beast Boy (at least, wouldn't be shocked if the rest of the curent Titans are there, even if costumes are more ambiguous - there's definitely *a* Raven & Cyborg), current Jade, Burnside Batgirl, and OYL Tim Drake. And the first cover (with the Fatal Five) has a classic [pre-Crisis] Batgirl and weird suits for Supergirl (black costume w/trousers) and... a Donna Troy in a blue version of her NTT suit with WW tiara?

My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Cobalt, Reboot & iB present 21st Century Legion: Earth War .

Travis Ellisor's Legion costume references are right there and no one ever uses them unless a fan points it out

I didn't know about those pages either. Great reference. Thanks Sarky.

I was just coming to post this. Seems like it was solicited without the cover. Looks like Johns' version of the Legionnaires appear.

I see Dreamy-Eyed Twunk Mordru is still there. Maybe he's the result of Mysa absorbing all of Crazy-Eyed Mountain Hermit Mordru's dark magic to become the Black Witch.

Speaking of Mysa, she's here but I don't see her signature eyelid tassels. How is she supposed to distract enemies in combat? And didn't Ultra Boy have long hair by the end of the retroboot, or am I remembering wrong?

Guys I have big news.

Phil Jimenez tweeted a preview of his story in this year's DC Pride and it explicitly talks about the Giffen/Levitz era of the Legion. Phil talks about the overt queerness of that era and the effect it had on him, alongside the Wonder Woman comics. This is the most actual reference the Legion's gotten in these pride books and it brought tears to my eyes.

The most relevant panel, which I suspect many posters will relate to:

Here's hoping that this gives the team some much needed visibility

The whole piece is pretty awesome. I'd really be up to seeing some more Jimenez work on the Legion after reading that.

Thanks for the attachment, EDE, and I echo GL's hopes.

I won't be receiving my copy of the issue for a couple days, so this was a nice aperitif.

The only thing that bothers me is that Jimenez didn't even mention Steve Lightle, even though Jimenez prominently included Sensor Girl, who was co-created and designed by Lightle.

Still "Fickles" to my friends.

Yeah, I thought the singling out of Levitz/Giffen was a bit weird, when many of the specific features he alludes to weren't really specific to that team (the men in corset bit, for example, is clearly a reference to Cos's 70s outfit). But I guess he meant that was the run that got him into the Legion.

Fair enough. I'm glad I'm not the only one who found that weird. Thanks, EDE.
