also no!
your earlier guess was Flash and Hawkgirl. One of those was correct - not Flash, so Hawkgirl.
who could Hawkgirl have had some sort of beef with? (it's not really obvious, as this was a relationship developed specifically for the cartoons...)

Yes! Hawkgirl and Diana. Diana held a bit of a grudge upon finding out that Hawkgirl was, for a while, a double agent for the Thanagarian forces.
It took a threat from Ares to have the two respect each other again

In the classic Superman-Red/Superman-Blue story, three couples had a joint wedding. Superman-Red married Lois. Superman-Blue married Lana. Who were the third married couple?

I remember that story quite well, I did enjoy how hopeful it was During COIE, only the most powerful heroes were chosen to join the assault on the Anti-Monitor's citadel (issue 7). which 4 Legionnaires (past or present) were among those chosen?

Actually, Superman probably qualifies as well, given that the story is pre-Crisis (well, mid-Crisis, but pre-universal mergence).

Cool. I thought I remembered Ultra Boy in that scene, but clearly I'm mentally projecting him there.
In 1987, DC celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Detective Comics with a celebration of Detective Comics's history and the detective story genre overall. In that story, a young woman named Mary Watson is engaged to a man who introduces himself as Thomas Morgan. But that's not Thomas's real last name - what is his real last name?

Nope. I'll throw out a hint in case this is too obscure a story - the real name shares its first syllable with the "Morgan" alias.

Sounds like it's going to be Moriarty.

You are correct! Thomas Moriarty (hiding the shame of his ancestry) was set to marry Mary Watson, descended from the sidekick of Sherlock Holmes, whose centenarian self appears at the story's climax to help stop another Moriarty descendant's attempt to kill Queen Elizabeth II and to bless the union of the good Moriarty descendant to Miss Watson. The book also featured Slam Bradley, who appeared in the first issue of Detective Comics, as well as Batman and Robin, the usual stars, and Elongated Man.

would be fun if Mary Watson and Thomas Moriarty appear again, as detectives! maybe a double-date with Ralph and Sue... and it turns into a border-spanning international investigation!

Catching up slowly. Fun times at work.
Back when he was writing Bat-books, Gerry Conway reintroduces The Monk. What was unusual about The Monk, that has a connection to the prior work of Bat-artist Gene Colan?
