Who needs reality, when you can be entertained by shadow animals?

The Shadow Thief's first appearance, with art by Joe Kubert, is awesome.
Really, all of Kubert's Silver Age Hawkman stories are great! Shame there are only a few of them.

some good things should not be so rare I agree. But in this case, it was the readers' fault. Kubert's art drew a very mixed reaction from DC fans, and unfortunately, sales reflected that. So editorial decided to assign the Hawkman series an artist whose style was more in keeping with the DC house style. In the long run, that didn't work either, as the series didn't even make it to 50 issues. Perhaps Kubert might have gradually grown on readers over the course of the series? I, for one, would like to think so.

I have come to the opinion that in *most* cases, success for DC comes whenever editorial is wrong.

They can sit in the corner until they understand why they were bad.
(Narrator: DC editorial never left the corner)

Scientists found the missing mass holding the multiverse together. Every universe has DC editorial, unable to learn, stuck in a corner.

I would love a Konk!-style duck character! "Ahhh, the zombie duck is headbutting people.... with her floating head!"

This is one of the many important functions of the Kill the Thread thread. A forum to discuss the important issues of the day. Such as, just how much easier life would be with a detachable head.
By lifting the head off and turning it, you can see directly behind you. No more getting caught in rain showers. Just tuck your head under your coat. Tall people would no longer bump their heads. Everyone would be the headless horseman at halloween. No need to worry about what to dress up as. You could dress up as the doctor in reanimator too actually. See above football crowds. Just raise your head up with your hands. Keeping your head down during combat just got easier.

Gingold: Stretches out the links in all necks.
Why The Links were playing on your neck will be the focus of an upcoming issue of The Atom.
