A nod to the Avengers Korvac thingy where the cast were killed. Actually, I think it's been done a few times. I can't think of a single occasion where I've been impressed by it.

The first time may have been WOW, but after that it does tend to get predictable.

Some time back it was said: the only people who stay dead in comics are Jason Todd, Bucky, and Uncle Ben. Well...

though of course, we also have the Waynes. uh... and Jor-el and Lara... uh....

I didn't read Korvac until nearly 20 years after it was first published. That's probably why I was not only unimpressed, but outraged that they'd take a year's worth of issues to tell such an insipid little story! I almost threw the trade at the wall!

Geoff Johns ending on the JSA and DC in general is going to be dragged out as long as the opening credit sequence of the Prince of Darkness movie from 1987

Prince of Darkness, as a Nigel Kneale tribute, is excellent, title sequence and all.

DC's gushing multi-page tribute to Johns, while the actual golden, silver and bronze age creators of properties fight for credit, was a sizeable reason in me not bothering with DC. The very poor writing quality (Johns is as solid as they have most of the time) also helped me along.

a lot of the good writing has vanished these days. I find many of the fanfics here to be of better quality.

I haven't seen the spread yet. ugh.

And I agree, Ibby - I spend more time on AO3 than I do on the DC app.

I find that the fanfic writers here respect the characters more too!

I have taken advantage of comixology sales to have my favs close to hand. I don't think I've picked up anything recent.

I'm always disappointed at this time of year when I remember that the Winter Solstice isn't the one that you celebrate by throwing weapons at your invulnerable friends.
