I absolutely love some of the stand alone episodes (particularly the ones written by Darin Morgan), but pretty much anything dealing with the "mythology" I have no interest in at all.

I was reading a lot of Fortean material at the time. But I never really watched it. Despite the crossover, I don't think I ever connected with the bits that they took to make a popular TV show. These days, when you've got way too many people taking them way too seriously, to the extent that it might actually be endangering civilization... well, not so much fun anymore.

I picked up a compilation of Fortean Times mags a couple of years back. It was from just before I started reading it back then. The historical and sociological insights were still just as interesting. How movements and theories are formed and developed as it happened, in some instances. Yeah, things have changed. Another problem I had with X-Files is that the monster-of-the-week episodes were just NOT FUN. They were dreary, gross, muddy-looking -- that whole 90s aesthetic I mentioned a few posts ago. Still "Fickles" to my friends.

Unfortunately that's only like four episodes in the original run, and two in the revival.
