Is this one of those handful of adventures that Ferro Lad appeared in?

Alas, poor Ferro Lad had died a couple of issues earlier!

After Superboy brings Insect Queen to the future, she's left on her own a bit while Supes is in a closed meeting, so she explores Metropolis a bit, and ends up saving a rocket ship that's on fire! One of the passengers on board is Dream Girl, who remarks that 1) Lana did as good a job as any Legionnaire could have, prompting IQ to tryout for the Legion, and 2) that she owes Lana a favor, which leads to her later sharing with Lana her prediction that the three Legionnaires on the mission to Ice City will be in danger (and also that turning into a moth girl will cause problems for Lana as well). Fortuantely, while Lana mentions that she'd met Dream Girl's boyfriend Star Boy, she doesn't go into details, because that might have caused problems!

This story is a bit of an oddball, being one of only four Legion stories written by Legion creator Otto Binder, and the only one in which he spends a significant amount of time writing pre-existing Legionnaires created by others. It's definitely a bit jarring if you're reading through the stories chronologically, as it comes right when Shooter's run is really starting to take off but read on its own with the fact that it's a rare Binder contribution in mind, it's a lot of fun!

Reboot Element Lad changed Monstress' skin color. But before that, what else did he change the color of?

He changed a transuit from transparent to gray for Dirk Morgna.

he did do that, but that was not the first.

also, the transuit change was because he lined it with inertron - it's a bit nitpicky, but the color change was a byproduct - the main goal was to protect others from Dirk's touch.

with Monstress' skin color, and the answer I am thinking of, the color change was the primary goal of Jan's transmutation.

Was it himself? I think he was doing his sorta-kinda Metamorpho thing at that stage maybe?

not yet, that came after too but yes, he was transmuting his own body into various elements (wonder what Ferro felt about that...)

a clue: Element Lad transmuted something completely cosmetic... and it was shortly after he officially joined the Legion....

yes it was! it's been a while, so I'll give it to you as you are correct

it was Ultra Boy's. Jo shows up in his new official uniform/costume. Triad remarks that it's too dark. Element Lad transmutes something in the fabric to make the color lighter.

Which legionnaire missed the wedding of Val and Jeckie?

Chameleon Boy missed it because he was just released from Takron-Galtos...

but didn't Dream Girl's group also miss it, cause they were thrown back in time? White Witch, Blok, Cosmic Boy were along for the ride, I think, and perhaps one or two more.

You know, my memory said that the lost in time group - Dream Girl, Star Boy, Cosmic Boy, White Witch, Ultra Boy - made it back just in time for the wedding. Their plot is resolved before the wedding but they don't appear there so I guess that is right. Chameleon Boy joined them as part of rescuing them so I thought he made it too.

There is one other legionnaire specifically stated as missing the wedding. If no-one gets it, you will have the win Ibby for answering correctly and updating my memories.

Was it Tyroc? The only time Levitz ever mentioned that guy back then was to say he wasn't around

I believe Element Lad missed it because he was investigating the faux Vi. (I guess that means that Vi missed it too.)

CMK has the correct answer. It was Jan who we see on the last page of the annual approaching Orando in a ship with Shvaughn who is disappointed that they missed the wedding. Jan is somewhat comisserated that at least they didn't spoil it by announcing that one of the lgeionnaires is an imposter. So yes they were investigating "Vi" but she was at the wedding with Gim. In fact during the ceremony Gim asks "Vi" if she had any regrets but she replies that she has none, presumably referring to their secret wedding at the Himalaya resort.

As for Tyroc, I think by this stage he was isolated back on Marzal which was more permanently out of phase with the universe. Does that sound right? So certainly he missed it but then he missed everything in the late LSH v2 and I don't think he ever appeared in v3. Surely he was on permanent reserve status by now?

Matter Eater Lad was also rarely seen. After Brainiac 5 cured his insanity we saw him returning to Bizmoll to resume his conscripted political career so he too would have been resigned or reserve.

Of course at least two reserve status members were present, Superboy whose time travel turbulence caused all the problems with Nura's group, and Supergirl who was seen sitting with Brainiac 5 being almost tempted to "apply" (for marriage apparently).
