CMK has it again. In a story from the Baxter series titled Brainy's Lucky Day, he encounters Dr Chaseer (I think you have the name right, or something very similar), who is a fellow scientist from the Time Institute, away from the lab in a social setting and they decide to share a drink or meal or something. Later, Nura spots Brainy returning to Legion HQ in the early hours of the morning and comments on that she is usually the one to do so, not him. Brainy is in a very cheery mood and heading for bed when Computo gives him one final piece of information - Rond Vidar has died - which puts a rather distressing and ironic end to Brainy's Lucky Day.

It's a brilliant idea for a Durlan to do. I don't know that any other writer ever suggested the idea, but I don't recall Durlans ever getting shot in what appear, in standard humanoid form, to be vital organs before this story, either.
