No communication or clue from any bad guys.

Here's what we know so far:

Six legionnaires were captured and trapped in a bubble at the bottom of the ocean.
Garth and Imra were also captured and are being held at the "lair" of the Fatal Five and the Dark Man.
Brin and Ayla recruit Blok who shows them how to find the "lair" and they attack.
The six legionnaires in the bubble escape and know they have to find the Five and the Dark Man but don't know where to start.
They don't get any hint from any bad guys including the Five or the Dark Man.

How do they find out?

(You are both close and also a long way away from the answer.)

Ayla was with Blok so I guess that's not it.

did they analyze the bubble's properties and use that to find the path?

Man, this one is really bugging me, as I really enjoy that story. laugh

Did they follow a signal or a portal?

The bubble yielded no clues.

They were just happy to see the end of the undersea creatures.

Imra did use her telepathy but it was to contact Tharok, helping him to break the Dark Man's influence and disable the ship they were on, which resulted in the Fatal Five teaming up with Garth and Imra.

This is the closest.

They did get a signal - but not from the Dark Man's ship - and not from any bad guys. Rather it was from an unexpected and seemingly unrelated source.

So not the bad guys. Not other legionnaires. Who else could it be?

Good guess but no. Getting closer.

Yes!

But not the sort of message you might expect.

The SPs sent a message to the Legion requesting them to explain why one of their cruisers had violated commercial airspace without a proper flight plan to make an unauthorised landing in the Atlantic at 1400. Since that was before the six had escaped from their own trap they deduced it must have been some other legionnaires and figured wherever they went could be a good lead to the Dark Man - so they called up the SPs and told them they were going to do it again. Having the right area they soon spotted the "wallowing" (their exact words) spaceship bobbing on the surface (previously disabled thanks to Imra and the Five) and dived in to attack.

Hence parking ticket - kind of.

Your turn CMK.

Man, totally didn't remember that aspect of the story (obviously).

Karate Kid once fought in a movie for the entertainment of beings that were humanoid versions of what real-life creatures?
