Hmm...prior to the Crisis but not prior to the Detroit incarnation, super-powers and no robotic parts. That pretty much narrows it down to three, and as far as I know only one of the three ever used a device of any sort.

My character is Vibe.
In one of the dumber plot lines on the Flash tv series, that version of Vibe uses bracelets to simulate his old powers after he voluntarily has his metagene removed or something like that.
I actually was very close to doing Steel, so thoth's first question kind of amused me.
So it's over to Ibby now.

[ I tried to word that answer in a way that people wouldn't put too much weight on it, but it's hard to ignore since that's arguably the most popular incarnation of the character. Plus I haven't really followed any of his more recent comic appearances, so wasn't sure if they'd incorporated that aspect of the tv version into the comics. IB, did your character appear prior to COIE?
