We lost this legendary Marvel artist-he is the one who took over Spider-Man from Steve Ditko:

He was Marvel's own Curt Swan.

He was also one of the comics industry's true gentlemen. I was fortunate enough to meet him three times at conventions in the 90s.

Rest in peace, good sir.

Another true titan of the industry gone. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and his many, many fans.

Fun bit of trivia: DC, for whom he'd been working for almost a decade on their romance comics, tried to get him to stay by offering him a monthly gig as Ramona Fradon's replacement on Metamorpho. That would certainly have been interesting!

Definitely one of the greats that left their mark on the industry.

Every year, we lose another legend. Really feels like the curtains are closing on the halcyon days of the medium.

I agree, Kappa, but I also think that as one Era ends, another flourishes. Superhero comics may be in decline, but lots of other genres are healthier than they've ever been.
