Did GA Blue Beetle have a sidekick called Buggy, or something
Close enough! My character is Sparky, sidekick of the GA Blue Beetle! Sparkington J. Northrup, aka Sparky, was a character that Fox was so excited about that they put him on a cover a month before he actually debuted, and then had to invent an explanation as to why he wasn't actually in the issue (see pic below). He appeared for a bit, and then there's some debate as to whether he changed his name or was replaced by another character named "Spunky". Most sites say he changed his name, though Public Domain Super-Heroes points out that Spunky apparently had a different real name.
Anyway, he made some appearances in comics by other companies in the recent past, but is now officially a part of the DCU, and set to join the "Young Justice Society".
Never would have gotten this. He's not on Wikipedia's list of Fox Comics characters, nor mentioned in Wikipedia's entry on Blue Beetle. Wow, that's obscure.

He's briefly mentioned in the Blue Beetle (Dan Garrett) article as part of the supporting cast, but yeah, I figured no one would get him by just looking at a list of Fox characters. Another complication is that Blue Beetle was actually published by Holyoke rather than Fox throughout much of the war, so I'm not certain he was technically ever in a comic published by Fox, but I figured that would just confuse things further.
I was just checking in to see how this one turned out. I didn't think for a second I was remotely close. I guess it's no surprise that Blue Beetle was one of a number of heroes putting kids at risk in war time. A quick look indicates the poor kid got none of the powers from vitamin 2x or any blue scarab. Just cannon fodder. Rick Veitch's Bratpack really put an end to kid sidekicks, for me.
After a respectful pause for the doomed domino masked kids...
I am thinking of a DCU character!
