As late as the early 80s, Merlin Mouse and Cool Cat were still being included in boxes of Looney Tunes animal crackers. That makes no sense, except, I guess, to corporate execs.

Maybe they were targeting the completionists
Or they were just very out of touch

I've never seen either the Cool Cat or Merlin Mouse cartoons.
I am a fan of the Shaturday Morning Cartoons series on YouTube, though. They unearth some really bad, wrong, and weird animation from the last third of the 20th Century and talk about particular shows' history and various tie-ins. They also love to run toy ads to fit in with the theme or subject of whatever that week's cartoon is, and they've gotten several voice actors to come and talk shop, too. Along with Caitlin McGurk, who curates for the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum in Ohio.

I'm still saving up for a replacement PC, but once I have it, I'll definitely check out Shaturday Morning Cartoons. Thank you, Cleome.
EDIT: I hope they do an episode about the Pac-Man cartoon. I have a particularly intense loathing for that one.
And the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum has been near the top of my list of travel destinations for a long time. And I don't even enjoy traveling!

They definitely did spotlight the Pac-Man cartoon. It was nowhere near the bottom of the barrel in terms of quality. Wild, I know. But I mean, compared to *The Partridge Family In Space" and the New Kids On The Block Xmas Special... hoo boy.

When I was a kid I wrote and drew Pac-Man stories that were, even for the work of an 8-year-old, better than the TV show. And in my stories, the four ghosts had the right personalities, dammit!

I tried to watch *The Amazing Mr. Blunden* late last year. Based on a juvenile ghost story that I loved. Even as a kid, I noticed that the movie was much more a broad comedy than a real ghost story, but I think I still enjoyed it. Watching it as an adult... well, I guess the bloom was off the rose. The heroine's acting was all her just looking at everyone with her big gorgeous eyes. Not much more to it than that. And poor Diana Dors as the villain. They could've had her chew the scenery about 50% less.

Diana Dors was from Swindon, the same dreary English industrial town that gave us the band XTC.

Dors was called the UK's Marilyn Monroe. She had quite a career from comedies, through a load of the UK's crime/ thriller B movies in the 1950s, through noir and onto Amicus horrors. She was in a lot of romantic/sex comedies at various points in her career. I recall her as a popular guest on lots of chat/ panel shows. Her lifestyle, and that of her freinds, had an archbishop call her a "wayward hussy" at one point, surely making her a firm LW favourite.

It's tough putting in the required hours which would allow for really good-quality hussy-ing. Though I did finally get a haircut a month ago... and then promptly got Covid. So it must've been some kind of Biblical thing where all my health was in my hair or something. I've learned my lesson, though. No more personal grooming, ever!!

I usually get a haircut every 6 weeks myself. My hair grows long enough that I get a completely different look by then

The mid-1960s iteration of the Batman comic, the one which inspired and influenced the live-action TV show, is known in fandom as the New Look Batman.

I remember Storm debuting her new look, and Kitty Pryde running away crying There's a very funny story behind that. Walt Simonson's stepdaughter Julianna, whose mother Louise was editing X-Men at the time, freaked out after Walt shaved off his famous beard!

Okay, now I'm a little disturbed. Julianna was the name of Roberto/Sunspot's girlfriend who was killed off about 10 pages after she was introduced.
Though it's more disturbing that somehow my brain has held this useless fact in reserve for the last forty years or so...
