I'm from Maryland. We take everything revolving around crabs, crab cakes, and old bay with the utmost seriousness

And you do it well!
I really need to visit... though my man is allergic to most seafood, so I will be eating while he... um... drinks... coffee?

I once stopped in Haver de Gras, Maryland, during a road trip up the east coast. It was covered in snow, but that only made it even more beautiful to look at!

The great Billie Holiday was from Maryland.
So was Frank Zappa. (Who honestly I don't have any strong feelings about. I don't hate his music but I tend to forget about it as soon as it's done playing.)

Yeah. I'm sure there are female Zappa fans but oddly enough after 56 years on Earth I've never met a single one. Everyone I've known who was wild for his work was a White dude.

I feel bad for his daughter. She seems very bright and brimming with potential, but she has never escaped the shadow of her dad's stupid song about Valley Girls.

Well, I'm not a musician but in a more general sense that's a feeling I'm well familiar with. : /

I do have some of the books my dad illustrated. I don't necessarily look at them much. But it's nice to know they're around. The rest of the family wasn't very keen on keeping them. This one has always been my favorite: https://grinningcatbooks.com/products/the-sand-lady

That's absolutely beautiful! I'm shocked and saddened that the rest of your family couldn't appreciate it.

Very nice Cleome. Odd that others wouldn't want to keep them.

My place could do with a clear out after a clear out. I've things I should really get round to selling on eBay too. Then there are the comics...

My dad has never been artistic, but my mom is. As a little girl, she wanted to grow up to draw comics. It didn't turn out that way for her, but she still does really wonderful doodles on notebook paper. Sometimes I think I might be trying to succeed at a level that she didn't quite make it to.

I am definitely not artistic in the conventional sense. I cannot color within the lines, or cut along straight lines
