Hey everyone,

Nominations are currently open for my own self-run Legion of Super-Heroes Creators Hall of Fame, 2021 Edition!

Not the fictional founders, but the real-life men and women who have put together the Legion comics that we know and love. Once I've settled on the list of nominations, all interested people will then be able to vote, with the FOUR highest being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021.

We did this last year and at that time the inductees ended up being Dave Cockrum, Keith Giffen, Paul Levitz, Jim Shooter and Curt Swan. So now, anybody who ever worked on an official story is eligible--writers, artists, letterers, editors, animators, voice-artists, etc--except for those five.

If you want to participate, just throw out as many names as you want to. I have opened this up on Facebook and my own blog as well. I'm thinking that everybody who gets at least two nominations will go onto the ballot, unless we get a lot more nominees than last year. Out of interest, my personal nominees this year are Ed Hamilton, Mark Waid, Mort Weisinger, Jerry Siegel, John Constanza, Tom McCraw, Steve Lightle, E. Nelson Bridwell, and John Forte.

Once the nominations are complete, I'll post the ballot here as well as Facebook, so anybody who wants to can easily participate, and we can choose our second set of Hall of Famers.

(Incidentally, it was once pointed out to me that a real life Hall of Fame often requires people to be in the field at for at least 25 years or so. I'm not going to do that. So if you want to pick someone whose first Legion work was in the last year, that's fine).

Thanks, all! Please participate if you'd like, or ignore if you don't.

XBen

Hey Xben! good seeing you again... and thanks for doing this, this is fun!

Will you send the links to your blog and Facebook? though I see you're going to open voting here anyway.

I'm going to nominate some of the bright stars of the Reboot - quite timely, we just reread the gem that is Legionnaires Annual 2,

Mark Waid (I see you have him already)
Tom McCraw (I see you have him already)
Tom Peyer
Jeff Moy
W.C. Carani
K.C. Carlson

Hey IB! The link to my blog is in my signature--there are links there both to last years winners and this year's nomination page. The Facebook post isn't anything interesting--it's just the same blog link with an explanation. Thanks for putting some names into the mix! It's good that you are putting people even if I already have as well--like I said it'll take at least two nominations to get people onto the ballot, so you have helped ensure that Mr. Waid and Mr. McCraw have a place in there!

Also +1 on the Otto Binder request. I had him in mind when I did my original post, but couldn't think of it! :)]]

And Anne mentioned it, but definitely an add for Karen Berger!

Hey Ben,

One of the folks on Reddit mentioned that you have Tom & Mary as one entry but Abnett and Lanning separated. Should they be listed together as authors? The vast majority of their Legion work is the two of them together.

I mentioned there that I decided to keep Abnett and Lanning separate simply because their credits are not the same--they both wrote but Lanning also inked so it seemed strange to acknowledge them only together. That's a bit different than the Bierbaums. It's a judgement call I realize, but one that I've decided to make.

All good, Ben, Just curious, as I had the same thoughts given Lanning's inks. smile
