oh darn hmmm I keep thinking it must have to do with the Time Trapper or Glorith somehow. including when adding in a version of Night Girl Legionnaires who have been in the Pocket Universe?

Still incorrect.
Don't forget that you still only have 8 out of 9 for your best list (or 9 out of 10 if including Night Girl).
This is not related to a specific adventure but cuts across multiple versions of the characters.

IB mentioning the Time Trapper made me wonder....is it Legionnaires who have all faced the Time Trapper without the rest of the team being involved? (the conspiracy to kill him after Superboy died, the 5YL version of it, Legionnaires 3, Cos and Night Girl in his 80s mini-series I think and I'm probably missing a couple others!)

Not what I am thinking of. Anyone can now guess.
As a bigger clue if I included a well known alternate future that was in continuity for a while it would add 5 more legionnaires to the list along with a non-legionnaire taking the number to 14 or 16. If you can think of which future I am talking about and what legionnaires were shown in what circumstances it might help.
The current list includes Legionnaires from Original, 5YL, Reboot and even Fourboot.

EDE slips in for the win. Yes it is the legionnaires who have had kids, apart from the Adventure era Adult Legion.
Saturn Girl/Lightning Lad - Original, 5YL
Cosmic Boy/(Night Girl) - 5YL
Laurel Gand/Rond Vidar - 5YL
Phantom Girl/Ultra Boy - Reboot
Superboy(man)/(Lois Lane) - Convergence
Mon-El/? - Four boot
In the Adult Legion story we had Phantom Woman/Ultra Man again, Timber Wolf/Light Lady, Shrinking Violet/(Duplicate Man), and Bouncing Boy/Duo Damsel. (Although Cosmic Man/Night Girl and Star Boy/Dream Girl were shown as married they were not shown to have offspring.)
I hope everyone had fun with this one. I was a bit unsure because of the exclusions but we got there in the end.
As an aside, interestingly Jon Kent marks the first time that a legionnaire's offspring has also become a legionnaire - even if in a different continuity (and assuming that Saturn Girl misspoke when first inviting Supergirl to join and claimed her legionnaires were the children of the legionnaires Superboy had met).

Oh that was really good, EDE! I was trying to think of parents at one stage but I was trying so hard to think of some obscure story where Superman had a kid in main continuity that it never occurred to me Jon exists right now  (also, my brain reserves the right to never acknowledge the existence of Cub again so Tinya/Jo got by me as well lol)
