Recently I found myself writing a Onevision about Cobalt Kid called "247 Acres and the Riverbed". I’m not really sure how I feel about it…I just kind of started writing it and saw it to its end. Usually that not how I write things, as I tend to do a lot of planning in advance and almost always know how my stories will end. I figured I’d try something else this time. Not really sure what to make of it, other than it was a lot of fun to write.
I’ll post half today and the other half next week.
It stars Cobalt Kid and a character some other LMB authors might recognize: Zhiya. She’s been hinted at and referenced before but this version of her has never been seen.
I must have missed that, Des. I'll go look for it and read it soon. I've always been intrigued by Zhiya and would love to see this version of her.

Anyone have tips on how to write dialogue in a story? I keep running into this problem where I feel like the characters are simply spitting out exposition or plot points rather than revealing this information more organically through their conversation.

How do you and your friends talk? What sort of language do you use? Try to think of that and see what you come up with. That's what I try to do anyway, hope it helps.
Legion Worlds NINE - wait, there's even more ongoing amazing adventures? Yup, and you'll only find them in the Bits o' Legionnaire Business Forum.

I second what Harbi said. It pays to base characters, or at least aspects of characters, on people you know.

Okay, I've lived without being a regular contributor to Legion World for far too long, so I've decided to write a new one-vision tying up a few of the long dangling plot threads from "Ongoing." It wasn't very difficult to find some interesting stuff there... We only left about a million things hanging...
So, Cobie, I need to know a few things:
1. Did we ever establish how Cobalt ID, Ego, and Super-Ego were reunited into one person?
2. How did Cobalt ID escape from the "Place where the sun doesn't shine" that Jugzernaut stuffed him into?
3. Did Dusty Baker ever return to the 31st century after traveling back in time to the 20th century?
4. Is IB still the Security Chief?
5. Is Fanfic Lady still the LMBP Leader?
6. Has the Security Office ever had to track down a Mass-Murderer?
Also I plan on using both JBL and Red Arrow as major players in that story along with EDG and My Whee Fem. Assuming of course that neither you nor Emily have an objection to that idea.
Just an Old, Broke-Down, Drunk, Bum!!
With a Power Ring...

The only ones I can help with are:
4) Yes.
5) No, the current leader is Power Boy. Deputy is Jerry.
As for 6), I can't recall any case in particular. But the way Emily and I have been writing stories recently, tracking down mass murderers would be one of the tasks of the Office.

Are story threads still used in the MMB (Five Faces... etc.) or is all of the LMBP story telling now done in Bits?

Lately, we've been doing role-plays still in the MMB. Onevisions and Tag Teams are in Bits.
Sadly, we haven't had any "live" role-plays in a while...

What's a "live" role-play?

When I say "live" I meant it's active. The Security Office thread is a role play, but it's currently dormant - and, if I remember right, the last role play that has been posted to. SHAKES is another.

The last page of SHAKES has some unfinished role play business that ties into the Ab Aetas Principium role play thread, Stalgie. With some of the other main role players inactive, I honestly don't know where to go with it

6. Yes, The Tyrian, one of the first villains I created. He is a parody of the Purple Man (Tyrian is a shade of purple). LMB got involved because he was killing people tied to his narcotics business. He was a major enforcer for the Violetta gang in Charltonburg, and I always envisioned him getting out of jail at some point and taking over his old gang. I also see him participating in a "Dark Reign"-styled story. I will let you use Red Arrow, but I might ask that you use one of my other characters too. I kind of want to shelf her for a bit and write different powers soon. I have been thinking that Earth Defense might want to do an exchange soon to keep an eye on the LMB, and this can tie into that.

Chuck, awesome to see around these parts! I have no idea about #1 and #2. My memory is either going (probably) or we never wrapped up the Cobie Id, Ego or Superego (also highly likely). I'm pretty sure Dusty Baker never returned to the 31st century since. And therein *must* be a story! Stalgie, role plays are tons of fun, often as much fun of more than tag teams! If either get rolling adain, I would definitely be in. As for old tag threads, I'm usually not so interested in resurrecting them because they're such a wonderful snapshot of the LMB at that time in terms of the authors and what they felt like writing about. If I can just catch a new one at the right time, I'd def be in. Sometimes though we all get into the "just add a new character every post" mentality with no story advancement in 5 pages and that can tend to destroy my focus . I need a young LMBer (glares at several of you) to play "summarizer" for me every page!

You know I love summarizing, Cobie, and we've got most of the characters in one place on the 5 for 15 tag thread...

I blame the long hours at the office and the oversaturation of coffee in my blood. Here's a link to the beginning of that story.

Of course, comic-book writer, unless they are the original creators, are pretty much fanfic writers anyway: taking a long-established, well-developed world and it characters off in their own direction.
Next time we have a DC/Marvel crossover, I want it to take place in the Hostessverse

To all the fiction writers: I'm trying to catch up after a long absence, so I just picked a starting point for each author and have started reading.
These stories are fantastic! I love how people are taking characters from different versions of the Legion and inventing new ones, working in old stories and newly-created events. This is really making the most of all the Legion concept has to offer and is a wonderful next step for Legion stories. Who needs the comic? These are a lot more fun, satisfying and take more than 5 minutes to read. No limits!
Individual comments to follow for Harbi, Ibby, Omni, Klar and Fanfie and Razsolo(hope I didn't miss anyone) when I get caught up. You're writing faster than I read.
